ORDER ESTABLISHING PROCEDURE FOR CITY ELECTION WHEREAS THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS PROVIDE THAT ON APRIL 4, 1972 THERE SHALL BE ELECTED THE FOLLOWING OFFICIALS FOR THIS CITY: COUNCILMAN PLACE 4 I COUNCILMAN PLACE 5 AND, WHEREAS, the laws of the State of Texas further provide that the Election Code of "bhe State of Texas as applicable to said election, and in order to comply with said Code, an order should be passed establishing the procedure to be followed in said election, and desig- nating the voting places for said election: THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of the City of San Marcos, Texas, that all candidates at the election to be held on the first Tuesday of April 1972, for the above mentioned offices file their applications to become candidates with the Mayor of this City personally, or with the City Secretary at City Hall, on or before thirty (30) days before the date of said election; That all of said applications shall be substantially in the following form: "To the MayoI1 of the City of San Marcos, Texas: I I hereby request that my name be placed on the official ballot for the election to be held on the day of April 19 as a candidate for of said CitY:- I hereby certify that I am a citizen of the United States of America and that I am eli,gible to hold office under theCpllsti tution of this State and have resided in this State for a period of twelve (12) months next preceeding the date of said election and have resided in this city which I offer myself as a candidate for twelve (12) months next preceeding the date of said election. Dated day of ,19_ Name of Candidate Received the day of , 19_ Mayor All candidates shall file with said application the loyalty affidavit required by Article 6.02 of the Election Code. That the Secretary of this City shall, in accordance with the terms and provisions of Arti'cle 13.32 of the Election Code, post in his office the names of all candidates who have filed their applications in accor- dance with the terms and provisions of this order, and said names shall be posted at a conspicuous place at least ten (10) days before said Secretary orders the same to be printed on the ballot for said election.
