Pell, <br />Ma~k McCarty, Gil Rainosek, Carol Click, <br />Art Ables, lea Anne Abels, Mrs. Ruth F. <br />Thomas, Juan Ramon Palomo, B'arbara levaux, <br />Ed Slaughter, Mari Northrup, Doug Damon, <br />Jerri Martin, Lanny Cravy <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The Rev. lance Carnal, Associate Pasto~ of First United Methodist <br />Church, gave the Invocation. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the April 10, 1972 meeting were approved as <br />presented. <br /> <br />The Mayor called on Councilman King for a report from the Land <br />Committee regarding a new site for the Scheib Opportunity Center. <br />Reference was made to a letter from Mrs. William H. Crook, Secre- <br />tary of the Executive Committee of the Center, regarding the dead- <br />line fo~ moving their quarters to a new site. Mr. King moved that <br />the building.housing the Scheib Opportunity Center be relocated <br />on a city-owned lot on Purgatory Street (Lot 3,Blks. 1 & 2, Dan <br />McKie Addition). Mr. Yarbrough seconded the motion. There was <br />discussion on the suitability of the site. On roll call, the motion <br />passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor called on Mrs. C.D. Marshall, President of the League of <br />Women Voters, for a request from her organization. Mrs. Marshall <br />read the following statement: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />"As a result of a year-long study of park ~nd recreational <br />facilities of San Marcos, the League of Women Vote~s ask <br />that the subdivision code fo~ ~evelopers include a specifi- <br />cation that a d~veloper be required to dedicate a minimum <br />of 5% of the total acreage of the development for recreation- <br />al purposes". <br /> <br />The Mayor thanked Mrs. Marshall for the League's interest in park <br />facilities, and said the Council would take the recommendation <br />under advisement. <br />
