Mr. Etheredge <br />referred to another tract in the same area which had pre- <br />viously been denied a "Cd classification. Mrs. Jack <br />Weatherford, speaking as a member of the Planning adn Zoning <br />Commission, stated that the Commission had felt the'Knights <br />of Columbus request was different from other commercial usages. <br />On 1'01 I caJ I, the fol lowing vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: 0 Cunningham, DeLa Rosa, Etheredge, Flores, King, <br />Tauch, Yarbrough <br /> <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance passed on first reading. <br /> <br />The Mayor opened a Publ ic Hearing to consider an Ordinance <br />amend ing the Zon i ng Ord i nance to. provi de for a new "P-1" <br />and "P~2"definition and classification. He called for <br />discussion of the Ordinance. Mr. Gresham was requested to <br />eXf,n a i n the need for the amendment. He discussed the present <br />"P-l" and "P-2" usages and said that ~he point of the Ordin- <br />ance was to designate the usage of the publ ic use land for <br />governmental and educational agencies only. The Mayor <br />closed the PubJic Hearing. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an Ordinance with the fol lowing caption: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPENDIX A, BY <br />DELETING SECTION 12, ENTITLED UP", PU&lIC USE, <br />INCLUDING GOVERNMENTAL, POOLS, PARKS, SCHOOLSr <br />ETC. DISTRICT, AND SUBSTITUTING AN ENTIRELY NEW <br />SECTION UNDER THE SAME NUMBER AND TITLE <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Yarbrough. moved the Ord i nance be approved on first <br />reading. Mr. King seconded the motion which passed <br />unanimously. The Mayor declared the Ordinance passed on <br />first readi ng.' <br /> <br />The Mayor opened a Public Hearing, to consider an Ordinance <br />amending the Zoning Ordinance to provide a Mobile Home Park <br />classification. He cal led for discussion. Mr. CaJvin <br />Varner, a mobile home park owner, was recognized. He stated <br />that he felt there were stipulations in the Ordinance which <br />discriminated against mobile home park owners in .their <br />compet i t i on wi thapartment cpmp I exes. I t was po i nted out <br />that Mr. ,Varner was referpi ng to Item 9 on the agenda and <br />that his statements would be considered during th.at discus.., <br />sion. The Rev. Samuel Montoya of the Pentecostal Church <br />asked the status of, his temporary mobile home permit.
