On roll call, the motion passed unanimousLy. The Mayor read' a petition protesting an Ordinance under ~~nsideratio~ by the Coun~11 which would provide for the levy of a hotel-motel room occupancy tax. Mr. and Mrs. L.E; Horacefield came forward to state their objections. During the discussion which followed, Leo C. Poor~, manager of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, stated that four of the petit~oners ~adrequested their names be withdrawn from the petition. I The Mayor introduced an Ordinance with the following caption: A~nRDINANCE RELATING TO tHE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF A HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX; PROVIDING FOR THE DEFINITION OF CERTAIN TERMS; ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF THE TAX AND EXCEPTIONS TO ITS IMPOSITION; PROVIDING FOR THE , COllECT! ON OF SUC'H TAX; REQU 1 RING THE Fill NG OF 'REPORTS OF COLLECTIONS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO'MAKE NECESSARY RULES AND REGULATIONS RELATIVE TO THECOLlECTI ON OF SUCH TAX AND AFFORD I NG HIM ACCESS TO BOOKS AND RECORDS; DECLARING FOR WHAT THE PROCEEDS OF SUCH TAX SHALL BE USED; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ,ORDINANCE; ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND SETTING FORTH OF A SAVINGS CLAUSE I Mr. DeLa Rosa moved the Ordinance be approved on second reading. Mr. Etheredge seconded the motion which passed unanimously. The Mayor declared the Ordinance approved on second reading.
