<br />regular meeting, June 12, 1972 <br /> <br />page 2 <br /> <br />The Mayor read a Resolution authorizing the submission of an <br />application for assistance under the Federal Disaster <br />Assisiance Program to reimburse the City f6r costs ~elated <br />to the May 12 flood. Mr. Etheredge moved the Resolution be <br />ap'ii;'oved.' Mr. ell'!'rn'i nghal)) seconded the mot'i on. ' Mr. K i n9 <br />read a Ii st of present and p~ojected expend i tu res incurred <br />in clean-up and repair of flood damage prepared by the City <br />Manager, see attached. On roll call, the motion passed <br />unanimousLy. <br /> <br />The Mayor read' a petition protesting an Ordinance under <br />~~nsideratio~ by the Coun~11 which would provide for the <br />levy of a hotel-motel room occupancy tax. Mr. and Mrs. <br />L.E; Horacefield came forward to state their objections. <br />During the discussion which followed, Leo C. Poor~, manager <br />of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, stated that four of <br />the petit~oners ~adrequested their names be withdrawn from <br />the petition. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an Ordinance with the following caption: <br /> <br />A~nRDINANCE RELATING TO tHE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF <br />A HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX; PROVIDING FOR THE DEFINITION <br />OF CERTAIN TERMS; ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF THE TAX <br />AND EXCEPTIONS TO ITS IMPOSITION; PROVIDING FOR THE <br />, COllECT! ON OF SUC'H TAX; REQU 1 RING THE Fill NG OF <br />'REPORTS OF COLLECTIONS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER <br />TO'MAKE NECESSARY RULES AND REGULATIONS RELATIVE TO <br />THECOLlECTI ON OF SUCH TAX AND AFFORD I NG HIM ACCESS <br />TO BOOKS AND RECORDS; DECLARING FOR WHAT THE PROCEEDS <br />OF SUCH TAX SHALL BE USED; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR <br />THE VIOLATION OF THIS ,ORDINANCE; ESTABLISHING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE; AND SETTING FORTH OF A SAVINGS CLAUSE <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. DeLa Rosa moved the Ordinance be approved on second <br />reading. Mr. Etheredge seconded the motion which passed <br />unanimously. The Mayor declared the Ordinance approved on <br />second reading. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an Ordinance with the fol lowing caption: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE COGE OF ORDINANCES OF <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPENDIX A, BY <br />DELETING SECTION 12, ENTITLED UP", PUBLIC USE, <br />INCLUDING GOVERNMENTAL, POOLS, PARKS, SCHOOLS, <br />ETC. DISTRICT, AND SUBSTITUTING AN ENTIRELY NEW <br />SECTiON UNDER THE SAME NUMBER AND TITLE <br /> <br />Mr. YarbroG~h: moved the Ord inance be approved on th i I'd and <br />fi~al reading. 'Mr. Etheredge seconded the motion, and on <br />roll call, the fol lowing vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Cunningham, DeLa Rosa, Etheredge, Flores, King, <br />Tauch, Yarbrough <br /> <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved and Adopted. I <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an Ordinance with the fol lowin9 caption: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE W~ICH <br />REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUIDllNGS, <br />STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY <br />CHANGING THE ZONING DFA 4-ACRE TRACT LOCATED AT THE <br />INTERSECTION OF HOPKINS AND SAN ANTONIO STREETS, FROM <br />"R-1" (SINGLE FAMilY RESIDENTIAL) TO "C" (COMMERCIAL) <br />
