Scott, Minister of Education, First Baptist <br />Ch~rch, gave the Invocation. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Minutes of the regular meeting of August 14, 1972,were <br />approved as pre~ented on motion of Councilman Yarbrough, and <br />second of Councilman King. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that legal work on acquisition of rights- <br />of-way for Sessom Drive had not been completed. Councilman Yarbrough <br />moved th~t an ordinance scheduled for consideration at the August 28 <br />meeting which related to acquisition of rights-of-way for Sessom <br />Drive, be tabled. On second of Dr. Tauch, the motion passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />The City Manager presented for consideration a contract with a law <br />firm to handle condemnation proceedings in connection with acquisi- <br />tion of right-of-way for widening and extending Sessom Drive. <br />The City Manager had been authorized at the August 21 meeting to <br />enter into an agreement with Attorney John Davidson. Mr. Yarbrough <br />moved that the City Manager be authorized to execute the contract <br />for legal services with Sawtel Ie, Goode, Davidson and Leighton, <br />Attorneys. Mr. DeLa Rosa seconded the motion, which passed <br />unanimou~ly. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A Re;3olution authorizing the City's participation in the Police <br />Caaet Program was introduced and read aloud. A copy of the <br />Resolution is attached as a part of the Minutes. The City Manager <br />expl?ined the type of training the Cadets are given by the Police <br />Department. Dr. Tauch moved approval of the Resolution'authorizing <br />the City participation in the Criminal Justice Council Pol ice <br />Cadet Program. Mr. King seconded the motion, which passed unani- <br />mously. <br />
