<br />regular meeting, august 28, 1972 <br /> <br />page four <br /> <br />The Mayor i ntroduce.d an ord i nance and read the fo I low i ng capt i on: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE DEDiCATING CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY, TITLE <br />TO WHICH IS PRESENTLY VESTED 1N THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, FOR PARK AND RECREATIONAL PURPOSES; PROV1DJ NG <br />CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS TO SUCH DEDICATION; AND REPEALING <br />ALL ORDINANCES .IN ~ONFLICT HEREWITH <br /> <br />Mr. King moved adoption of the ordinance on third and final <br />reading. Mr. Etheredge seconded the motion and on 1'01 I cal I I <br />the fol lowing vote was recorded: <br /> <br /> AYE: Cu"n ingham, 'Etheredge, F I ores, King, Tauch <br /> Yarbrough <br /> NAY: DeLa Rosa <br />The Mayor declared the ordi nance Passed, Approved and Adopted. <br /> <br />The City Manager presented a Resolution authorizing the <br />appl ication to the Department of Housing and Urban Development <br />for a grant to restore the old building known as "The Cock <br />House". It stands on which is now "Veramendi Plaza". The <br />Mayor asked the City Secretary to read the Resolution, see <br />attached. Estimated fair market value of the structure, and <br />cost of the restoration, as set forth in the Resolution, were <br />discussed, as well as the City's contribution toward the <br />project. Mr. Yarbrough moved approval of the Resolution. <br />Mr. King seconded the motion. There was further discussion. <br />On 1'01 I cal I, the fol lowing vote was recorded: <br /> <br /> AYE: DeLaRosa, Etheredge, Flores, King, Tauch <br /> Yarbrough I <br /> NAY: Cunn i ngham. <br />The Mayor declared the Resolution Passed and Approved. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that representatives of the newly <br />organized National Weather Service had contacted him <br />during the week to explain a new flood warning system. <br />Mr. Gresham explained how the system would work. Cost to <br />the ~ity for equipment would be under $500. The City <br />Manager said the City would be required to submit a letter <br />of interest as the first step in securing the program. <br />Mr. Yarbrough moved that the City Manager by authorized,to <br />proceed with requesting the service. Mr. DeLa Rosa seconded <br />the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Councilmen were reminded that a Special Meeting had been <br />called for the following day, August 29, at 7:10 p.m., to <br />receive the final plans for the Pol ice and Courts Building. <br /> <br />The Council adjourned at 8:30 p.m. <br /> <br />4~~~M\#~ <br /> <br />Luciano H.
