.i!!!) regular meeting, september 25, 1972 page five I The City Manager reported that the City woul~ end the fiscal year with a larger surplus than anticipated, approximately $60 thousand, He requested Council approval to ~roceed with a new personnel pay classification plan, If put into effect, it would require about $10 thousand of the surplus, He stated that he felt a new, more equitable plan would aid in better recruitment and retention of qual ified City personnel. Mr. King suggested a workshop would be desirable before the plan is presented at the second regular meeting in October. Mr. Yarbrough moved, at 8:30 p.m., to recess to an Executive Session. Mr. Etheredge seconded the motion which passed unanimously. ~(~~~-~*" ~~-~~~(-~~~*"~(- * EXECUTIVE SESSION Present were members of the Council and the City Secretary. The meeting being cal led in Executive Session, Councilman Yarbrough stated he had several matters to discuss informally, the most important being a raise in salary for the City Manager. ffe suggested as a figure, $100 per month, increase. Councilmen agreed with Mr, Yarbrough that Mark Gresham "is a man of tremendous abi I ity and doing a good job". After further discussion, Mr. Yarbrough moved that formal action be taken on a $100 a month raise for the City Manager at the next regular meeting.
