<br />.i!!!) <br /> <br />regular meeting, september 25, 1972 <br /> <br />page five <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that the City woul~ end the fiscal <br />year with a larger surplus than anticipated, approximately <br />$60 thousand, He requested Council approval to ~roceed with a <br />new personnel pay classification plan, If put into effect, it <br />would require about $10 thousand of the surplus, He stated that <br />he felt a new, more equitable plan would aid in better recruitment <br />and retention of qual ified City personnel. Mr. King suggested <br />a workshop would be desirable before the plan is presented at <br />the second regular meeting in October. <br /> <br />Mr. Yarbrough moved, at 8:30 p.m., to recess to an Executive <br />Session. Mr. Etheredge seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />~(~~~-~*" ~~-~~~(-~~~*"~(- * <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> <br />Present were members of the Council and the City Secretary. <br />The meeting being cal led in Executive Session, Councilman <br />Yarbrough stated he had several matters to discuss informally, <br />the most important being a raise in salary for the City Manager. <br />ffe suggested as a figure, $100 per month, increase. Councilmen <br />agreed with Mr, Yarbrough that Mark Gresham "is a man of <br />tremendous abi I ity and doing a good job". After further <br />discussion, Mr. Yarbrough moved that formal action be taken on <br />a $100 a month raise for the City Manager at the next regular <br />meeting.
