<br />regular meeting, september 14, 1970 <br /> <br />page four <br /> <br />w.e. Carson came before the Council with a preliminary <br />plat of Subdivision Sunet Acres #3. The Council examined <br />and discussed the plat. Mr. Contreras questioned the size <br />of the lots. Mr.. Carson said they were larger than requir- <br />ed by FHA. Mr. Rader confirmed this. Mr. Yarbrough moved <br />approval of the preliminary plat. Mr. Zavesky seconded the <br />motion and on roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock, Flores, Smith, King, Yarbrough, Zavesky <br />NAY: Contreras <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />The Council considered a petition for annexation of Sub- <br />division Tanglewood #4. A letter from Planning U Zoning <br />Commission stated the petition had been approved, with the <br />provision that an 80-ft. right-of-way be dedicated to the <br />City for possible use as a thoroughfare. Mr. King said he <br />didn:t believe the Council should ask a developer to deed <br />property to the City when it is not certain whether, or <br />when, it will be needed. The Mayor said the plat had al- <br />ready been approved by the Council, and Mr. Rader had agree~ <br />~o set aside the 80 feet, in case LBJ Drive should be routed <br />through his property. Mr. King moved that the petition be app- <br />roved, with the provision that Mr. Rader be asked to set a- <br />side, but not dedicate the 80-ft. strip in question. M~. <br />Flores seconded the motion, which passed unanrumously. <br /> <br />Mr. Rader showed the Council plats for Tanglewood # 5 & #6, <br />which are planned for f~ture development. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an ordinance annexing Tanglewood #4, <br />for first reading. Mr. Zavesky moved adoption of the ordi- <br />nance, on first reading. Mr. King seconded the motion, which <br />passed unanimously. <br /> <br />l, <br /> <br />The Mayor read a letter from the Housing Authority of San <br />Marcos a nnounci ng that David Ybarra had pee n named ,Executive <br />Director of the Authority. Warren Freudiger, who resigned <br />as Director, will continue as auditor. <br /> <br />Mr. Smith also read a letter from Senator Tower, notifying <br />the Council that the ~enatehad passed ,the Disaster Assis{ance <br />Act of 1970 (S.3619) on September 9. Among provisions of <br />the Act is establishment of a Community Disaster Fund,with <br />a retroactive clause, which would entitle residents of San <br />Marcos who suffered loss in the May 15 fmoodto pa~ticipate <br />in benefits. <br /> <br />The City Manager presented a tabulation of bids taken by the <br />City on August 26 for cleaning wastewater collection facilities. <br />Mr. Bean explained that American Pipe Service Co. had submitted <br />a low bid of $1927.00, but failed to comply with specifications. ~' <br />He recommended that the bid be let to the next lowest bidder, <br />Naylor Pipe Cleaning Co. A copy of the tabulation is attached. <br />Dr. Craddock moved that the bid for cleaning wasterwater <br />collection facilities be let to Naylor Pipe Cleaning Co., <br />at the bid price of $2700.00. Mr. Contreras seconded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. <br />
