Flores seconded the motion and on roll call, the follow- ing vote was recorded: AYE: DeLa Rosa, Emery, Etheredge, Flores, King, Yarbrough NAY: None The Mayor declared the ordinance Passed, Approved and Adopted. The Mayor reminded Councilmen of the hearing on the Flood I Control Project at the Court House, Friday, July 23, 1971, at 6: 00 p.m. He asked that everyone try to interest as ' many others to attend as possible. The City Manager distributed copies of th& Minutes of the Environmental Advisory Committee meeting. The Council agreed by common consent that Mr. Gresham should take the suggestions under advisement and make recommendations to the Council. Mr. Gresham reported to ~he Council that the Urban Renewal Agency is ready to sell the City' land acquired for a park, throUgh the "Riv~rProject". He asked Gene Rourkei Fiscal Agent, to present a schedule for selling bonds voted for purchase of park lands, in 1966. Mr. Rourke said the City was in good shape and a general good deb~ situation. A discussion ensued on the bond market, timing of the sale, and the probable deadline for purchase. of the land. Mr. Flores moved that a decision on the sale of bonds be tabled until the next meeting. Mr. King seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The City Manager said the Urban Renewal Agency would soon have to have a name for the Historical Plaza ne8r the River on Hopkins Street, and would like suggestions from the Council. He said one suggestion had been to name it<for the holder of the original land grant where the town of San Marcos was laid out: Juan M. Ve~amendi.
