/'/3 REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AUGUST 9, 1971 Present: Mayor Herbert A. Yarbrough, Jr. Councilmen Guillermo DeLa Rosa Frances D. Emery Eddy A. T<'lte Absent: Ross Kin~ Visitors: Jerri Martin Dave Horton Ken Vest Mrs. Dotty Sims Oscar Teegerstrom The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Councilman Etheredge gave the invocation. Councilman DeLa Rosa moved approval of the minutes of July 26, 1971, JUly 28, 1971, and August 2, 1971 as presented. Councilwoman Emery seconded the motion which passed unani- mously. I The Mayor opened a Public Hearing on a request to consider an ordinance adopting fire prevention regulations arid adopt~ ing the 1970 edition of the Fire Prevention Code. Mr. Eth- eredge made the motion to dispense with readin~ the whole Ordinance, and to only read the caption. Dr. Tauch seconded the motion, and the motion passed unanimously. The Mayor read the Ordinance with the following caption: AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A FIRE PREVENTION CODE PRESCRIBING REGULATIONS GOVERNING CONDITIONS HAZARDOUS TO LIFE AND PROPERTY FROM FIRE OR EXPLOSION 1 ESTABLISHING A BUREAU OF FIRE PRE- VENTION AND PROVIDING OFFICERS THEREFORE AND DEFINING THEIR POWERS AND DUTIESl PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONSl ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. The Mayor then called for a roll call, and the following vote was recorded: Aye: DeLa Rosa, Emery, Etheredge, Flores, Tauch, Yarbrough Nay: None The Mayor declared the Ordinance passed and approved as an emergency. A copy of the Ordinance is attached and made a part of the minutes. I The Mayor introduced an ordinance annexing 29.82 acres out of the J.M. Veramendi League No.2 located on the east side of Interstate 35 and fronting on the Interstate 35 Access Road. Mr. Etheredge moved approval of the ordinance on 1st reading. Dr. Ta.uch seconded the motion, and on roll call, the following vote was recorded: Aye: DeLa Rosa, Emery, Etheredge, Flores, Tauch, Yarbrough Nay: None The Mayor declared the ordinance passed and approved on 1st reading.
