<br />'-t ~f <br />, " <br />y-- <br /> <br />regular meeting, september 8, 1969 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />Councilman Zavesky stated that the NDP had already been <br />submitted to the Federal Government for approval and <br />funding, and he didn't see how the area could be changed. <br />Mr. Smith said a similar request had been made by Attorney <br />Ernest Morgan, on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Cummings, <br />and, inasmuch as their request had been denied, the Council <br />could not very well consider the Greer proposal. After <br />further discussion, Mr,., Flores moved that the Council reject <br />Dr. Greer's proposal. Mr. Zavesky seconded the motion a nd I <br />on roll call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Contreras, Dannelley, Flores, Smith, Zavesky <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor Pro Tem declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />Mike Aguirre came before the Council to complain about the <br />excessive noise at Cuauhtemoc Park on nights when dances <br />are held, and asked the ~ouncil to regulate the volume of <br />the public ~ddress system. The problem was discussed. <br />The Council gave common consent to Mr. Smith's suggestion <br />that the City Manager ask Chief Dial to talk to the officers <br />of Sociedad Cuauhtemocabout the complaint, and ask that the <br />volume on the public address system be lowered at 10:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Dannelley introduced for consideration a petition for <br />annexation of property owned by Mrs. Josiephene Fields. <br />Mr. Zavesky moved acceptance of the petition. Mr. Flores <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor Pro Tem introduced an ordinance, caption of which I <br />is as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE WHICH AUTHORIZES <br />THE PLACING AND MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC-CONTROL DEVICES <br />AT VARIOUS STREET INTERS!,CTIONS WITHIN THE LIMITS OF <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, BY THE ADDITION OF TWO STREET <br />INTERSECTIONS TO SECTION 1. OF SAID ORDINANCE; DECLAR- <br />ING AN EMERGENCY,; AND. The Resolution, which was read <br />infulJ, is attac.hed as a. part of the Minutes. <br />Mr. Zavesky moved approval of the Reslution. Mr. Smith <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Next item of business concerned appointments to three boards: <br />terms of two members of the Housing Authority Board expired <br />in August; ter,ms, of three members of the Urban Renelilal Board <br />were due to expire September 20; and ter.ms of two members of <br />the Planning and Zoning Commission~eredue to expire in <br />October. The Council agreed to defer appointme;ts to the <br /> <br />Housing Authority Board until the next meeting, and to consider <br />
