Emery, Jerri Martin, Jos", Luna, <br />Lanny Cravy, Bill V",idt <br /> <br />The Mayor Pro Tem called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the November 17, 1969 meeting were~pproved <br />as presented, on motion of Mr. Flores and second of M~. Zavesky. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Kenneth Sutton, CommClnder of American Legion Post 144, came <br />before the Councilwit~ a proposal from the Hays County Veterans <br />Association. M~. Sutton made the presentation in thr",e phases: <br /> <br />1. The Hays County Veterans Association wishes to build a swim- <br />ming po.ol for ~he people of San .Marcos on American Legion property, <br />and lease it to ,'the City .of San.Marcos for $1 a year. The City <br />would agree to maintain and operate the pool. with all profits <br />going into park improvements. <br />2. Plan of Financing the Project. Cost of pool :$125,000. <br />3. A request to the City for claaingthe last blookof Hutchison <br />Street (from Water Street to the San Marcos River) to give better <br />access to the pool) and provide additional parking space. <br />A plat of the area, and Mr. Sutt';n's notes. are. attached as a part <br />of the Minutes. <br /> <br />Mr. Sutton was accompanied by an engineer who specializes in <br />building swimming pools. He exhibited an architect's drawing of <br />a pool, app~oximately the size of the propos",d pool for San Marcos, <br />which he had built for the City of Hirst. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The plan was thoroughly discussed. Dr. Craddock moved th*t the <br />Council take the proposal, under advisement and give Mr. Sutton an <br />answerattheearlie~t pos~ible time. Mr; Zavesky seconded the <br />motion, whichp8ssed ~nanimously. Dr. Craddock thanked Mr. Sutton <br />and his associates for their untiring efforts to provide a swim- <br />min~ pool for the pepple of ~an Marcos. <br /> <br />The Mayor P~o Tem introduce~ an Ordinanc", Abandoning Ivey Way. <br />Dr. Craddock moved adoption of the Ordinance on its final reading. <br />Mr. Contre~as seconded the motion and on roll call, the following <br />vote was recorded: <br />
