Robertson, <br />JerryL.Moore, Martin Cherry, Jerri Martin, <br />Lanny' Cravy <br /> <br />The Mayor called the me~ti~g to order at 7:30p.m. <br /> <br />Minutes of regular meeting, February 9, 1970 and the special <br />m~eting, February 16, 1970, were approved as presented, on ~otion <br />of Mr. Contreras and second of Mr. Flores. <br /> <br />GeorgeE.Robertson came b~fore the Council' as representative of <br />residents on "Indian" Street, to request that the name be officially <br />changed to "Indiana". When the re8uest waspriginally made, he said, <br />the property-owners thought an error had been made on the map and <br />the street signs. Upon investigation it was found that the original <br />plat of the Zack Williamson Addition, filed in Hays County records <br />in 1910, carried the street name as "Indian". The request was <br />considered and discussed. Mr. Flores moved that the name of the <br />street be officially changed to "I ndiana". Councilman. Smi thseconded <br />the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Warren Freudiger, Executive Director of the San MClrcos Housing <br />Authority, came before the. Council, to give a progress report on <br />the 125 units of public Housing (87-4)whic~ are 99% compl<;>ted. <br />All of the 75 family units had been rented, he said, leaving <br />51 applications on the waiting list. Of the 50 units for the elder- <br />ly, only 19 had been rented, he stated. <br />Mr. Freudiger said the application for $60,000 to repair the exist- <br />ing public housing units (Projects 87-1,2 & 3) had been approved. <br />He explained in detail how the money would be utilized. <br />Mr. Contreras mentioned the urgent need for more parking facilities <br />at the present housing projects. Mr. Freudiger agreed that it was <br />needed, and expressed the hope that at some time in the future, <br />additional property could be acquired for parking lots. <br /> <br />Mr. Freudiger said that the 13.5-acre site for an additional <br />100 units was under option at a cost of $42,525. Dr. Craddock <br />enquired about recreational facilities and playground for the <br />children at the publ ic housi ng sites. Mr . Freudiger said at <br />present there was no provision for play grounds in federal housing <br />plana. <br />
