Mr. Flores. moved adoption <br />of the O~dinanceon first reading. Dr. Craddock seconded <br />the motion and on roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br />ABST A IN: <br /> <br />Craddock, Dannelley, Flores, Serur, Smith, Zavesky. <br />None <br />Contreras <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance passed on first reading. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Council considered a request for re-zoning on a 15-acre <br />tract on Uhla~~ Road, from "R-1" (single-family residential) <br />to "C. (commercial). A letter from the Planning & Zoning <br />Commission recommending the change is attached as a part of <br />the Minutes. Mr. Dannelley moved that the property be re- <br />zoned .from "R-1" to, "C". Mr. Zavesky seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Tbe Mayor introduced an~ read aloud a Resolution expressing <br />regret at Councilman Dan~elley's re~ignation. A copy is <br />attached as a part of the Minutes. .Councilman Smith moved <br />adoption of the Resolution. Councilman Zavesky seconded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. ' <br /> <br />Mr. Flores introduced discussion on amending the Charter to <br />provide for dire~t election of the Mayor. <br />Mr. Bean explained the procedure for getting a proposition <br />for Charter amendment, on the April 7 Municipal Election.ballot. <br /> <br />Jerry Moore, member of the Commission which wrote the <br />1967 Charter, spoke to the questi~n, explaining some of the <br />"pros ahd 20~s".He ex~ressedopposition to am~nding the <br />Charter without proper study. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Dr. Craddock moved that the Council adjourn to reconvene at <br />5:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 27, and that the City Attorney be <br />requested to prepare" an ordinance amending the Charter to <br />provide for direct election of the Mayor. The motion in- <br />cludeda request that the City Attorney attend the Friday <br />meeting" .and that members of the 1966-67 Charte,r, Commission <br />be invited to attend and participate i~ the discussion. <br />The Mayor sieconded the motion, which passed unanimously: <br /> <br />The Council adjourned at.
