<br />A RESOLUTION <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WIlEP~AS, the City Council is dedicated to the purpOse of promoting <br />the progress of the City of San Marcos and the wellbeing of all its <br />citizens, and <br /> <br />IVHEREAS, the Council recognizes that the success in achieving the <br />aforesaid purpose depends in great measure on the effectiveness of <br />the cooperation that is maintained between the City Council and other <br />agencies and institutions which play vital roles in relation to the <br />economic and social conditions in the community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the San ~1arcoa Area Chamber of Commerce is committed to the <br />proposition that the most worthy and cherished goals of any community <br />can be achieved only through the active cooperation of the people <br />and local agencies, and <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Cha~)er of Commerce has demonstrated its determination <br />to lead in planning and achieving the goals of this community: <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council extend its hearty <br />commendation to the Board of Directors, the officers, and the members <br />of the San ~wrcos Area Chamber of Commerce for the constructive plans <br />the Chamber has projected, and the efforts it has made toward the im- <br />plementation of those plans, to wit: <br /> <br />1) A Community Survey, by the distribution of 15,000 question- <br />naires throughout this community as a means of eliciting ideas and <br />suggestions from the people concerning projects that might be under- <br />taken by the Chamber of Commerce for the improvement of conditions <br />in this community: and <br />2) ~le holding of the first Community Leadership Retreat, at <br />Holiday Hills Resort, at wimberley, Texas, April 13 and 14, with <br />at least 150 men and women participating, the purpose of which was <br />to bring together a large number of leaders from all parts of this <br />com~unity to plan specific work projects to be undertaken by the <br />Chamber of Con~erce toward the implementation of suggestions that <br />emerged from the Survey: and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the directors, officers, and members of <br />the Chamber of Commerce be congratulated for embracing as the guide- <br />line of its endeavors the concept that through the cooperation of <br />the citizens and their institutions a community can achieve its goals: <br />and finally, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council pledge its wholehearted coopera- <br />tion and assistance to the Chamber of Commerce in all of its efforts <br />to achieve constructive goals for this community and that a copy of <br />this Resolution be presented to the Board of Directors of the San <br />Marcos Area Cha~ber od Commerce. <br /> <br />Passed this 27th day of April, 1970. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />ATTES~T. <br />~10'~ I jQfjfl{J1>, <br /> <br />Dorot y .
