It. was agreed that the <br />members of the 1969 Board would be canvassed to see if they <br />wished to serve again. and appointments would be made at the <br />May 25 meeti ng ~ <br /> <br />Dr. Craddock questioned the City Manager about speed signs <br />on State Highway 123. She said that going toward Staples, <br />the speed limit is 45 miles per hour, and coming back toward <br />San Marcos, it is 30 miles per hour. in the area near the <br />High School and Bowie Elementary. Mr. Bean said the High- <br />way Department runs checks ~hrough urban areas to determine <br />the speed limits. Dr. Craddock moved that the Highway De- <br />paP'tment be asked to run another check in the ~chool area. <br />Mr. Flores seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Flores requested a workshop on City ordinances. Mr. King <br />ask~d when a Joint meeting with the County Judge ~nd Commission- <br />ers could be scheduled. It was agreed that late June would be <br />a favorable time for workshops and Joint meetings. <br /> <br />Tom Serur came before the Council to complain that the City <br />had laid wafer lines near his property on Bluebonnet Drive, <br />and the streets had neve~ been repaired. Mr. Bean. said ~he <br />City will repair any street it tears up, and the situation <br />~ould be alleviated as soin as possible. <br /> <br />Mr. Bean reported that furnishing City facilities to the <br />balance of Westover Addition, should it be annexed, woiHd <br />cost an estimated $125,000.00. The City Manager said he <br />did not recommend .that the area' be annexed arbitrarily, as <br />proposed by the Planning & Zoning Commission. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Bean' presente!d a. bid tabulation on water & sewer facili- <br />ties for Spri ng Lake Hills Subdivision, Unit # 7. Mr. Flo.res <br />moved that Action Utility be awarded the contract o~ a low bid <br />of $50,548.90, ~ndthat the ,Mayor be authorized. to execute the <br />necessary papers. Mr. la~esky seconded the motion and on roll <br />call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Contreras, Craddock. Flores, King, Smith, Yarbrough, <br />Zavesky <br /> <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared-the motion carried. <br /> <br />The City Manager presented a proposal t.o the Council, on a <br />Summer Recr.eation Program whif:'h' would require additional <br />funding of $5,000. The Mayor moved that the City Manager <br />be authorized to setup a recreation program, at. an estimated <br />cost of $5,000, for two months during the Summer.
