<br />regular meeting, may 11, 1970 <br /> <br />page three <br /> <br />Mr. Philip Juarez came before the Council on behalf of his <br />client, Mr. Nicolas Garcia, who wishes to repossess property <br />located at 1145 Nimitz, upon payment of all delinquent taxes <br />and penalty and interest. The history of the case was reviewed. <br />Mr. King moved that the Mayor be authorized to execute a deed <br />to Nicolas Garcia for the property at 1145 Nimitz, after payment <br />of $483.35 delinquent taxes, penalty and interest and court costs <br />included, plus the .cost of a new deed. Mr. Zavesky seconded the <br />motion, and on roll ';all, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AY E: Contreras, Craddock, Flores, King, Smith, Yarbrough, <br />Zavesky <br /> <br />NAY; None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />Eddy Etheredge appeared before the Council forclari fication <br />of his status as a former employee of the M;Lgrant H.ealth Program, <br />a federally-funded project ad~inistered by ~he City-County ~ealth <br />Unit. Mr. Etheredge said he was given employment termination <br />notice on a City of San Marcos form, and he wished to ascertain <br />whether he was considered to have been a City employee. <br />City Manager Bean stated Mr. Etheredge had not been an employee of <br />the City of San Marcos. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Jim T. Brown, Executive Director of the Urban Renewal Agency, <br />came before t.he Council to further discuss matters brought out at <br />the workshop. .' He used a City map to show the areas planned for <br />Neighborhood Development Programs. Mr; Brown proposed the addition <br />of five blocks to "EI Molino". project (shown in orange on the map), <br />designated "A" area. This would include the east side of the <br />Square, and make possible i~provementof the central business <br />district. Dr. Craddock moved the addition of five blocks to the <br />"A" area, "E! Molino Project" of NDP. Mr. Zavesky seconded the <br />motiDn and on rollcall, the following vote ~as recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Contreras, Craddock, Flores, King,Smith, Yarbrough, <br />Zclvesky <br /> <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Brown discussed with the Council the possibility of making <br />application for "B" are~, indicated.in blue on the map. He. said <br />the application would have to be forwarded within 90 days of <br />April 4, .and his staff would require 30 d~ys to prepare it. <br />Dr. Craddock moved that the Council authorize the Urban Renewal <br />Agency to proceed wifh preparation6fthe application on-Area B", <br />indicated by blue on the map. Mr. Zavesky seconded the motion, and <br />on roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock,Smith,Zavesky <br />NAY: Contreras, Flores, King, Yarbrough <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion failed. <br /> <br />Dr. Craddock moved that within two weeks, the Council hold a <br />workshop with Urban Renewal on "Area B". Mr. Contreras seconded <br />the motion and on roll call, the fol16wing vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Contreras, Craddock, Flores, King, Smith, Yarbrough, <br />Zavesky <br /> <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br />
