State Soil Conservation Service Engineers will be in San Marcos July 13-17, 1970 for a field study and public hearing. It was agreed by common consent of the Council that the sponsors of the application for assistance in flood control- Commissioners Court of Hays County, City Council and the Board of Comal",Hays and Guadalupe Soil &.Water Con.servation,District- would calla public hearing, to beheld at the Public Library, on July 17. At that time SCS Engineers would present their findings to all interested persons. Councilman Yarbrough presented a report on the National Flood Insurance Agency. A copy is .ttached as ~ part of the Minutes. The plan was discussed, Mr. Yarbrough answering questions. Mr. Yarbrough moved that the City of San Marcos make application for participation in the National Flood Insurance Plan. Dr. Craddock seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The Mayor reported that two persons had given the City checks totaling $250, to be used for flood relief. Dr. Craddock moved that a special fund be set up, to beadmmnistered by the Mayor and Mayor Pro-Tem; and that gifts from the fund be limited to filling needs which cannot be met through the normal channels of charity; and that the funds be completely disbursed within the next several months. Mr. Zavesky seconded the motion~nd on roll call, the following vote was recorded: I AYE: NAY: Contreras, Craddock, Flores, King, Smith, Y~~brough, Zavesky None The Mayor declared the motion carried. The City Manager asked the Council to authorize remission of fees on building permits to repair flood damage. Dr. Craddock moved that collection of fees for building permits to repair flood damage be waived for six months. Mr. Contreras seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mr. Bean informed the Council that a short street off Linda Drive in the Rogers Subdivision must be formally named before the paving assessment program could be put into effect. The City Manager said records show that a former City Council had agreed to name the street "Kone Avenue" in exchange for right-of-way. Dr. Craddock moved that the street in Rogers Subdivision be formally named "Kane Avenue". Mr. Contreras seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The Cooocil .djooco.d .t 9'5~~~ Hollis W.
