Koch, Jerru Martin, David Basye, <br />Lanny Cravy <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The Mayor opened a public hearing on the proposed an~dxation of <br />38.61 acres bounded by Bugg Lane~ River Raad and Highw~y 80. <br />No one came forward to speak for ar against the annexation. <br />Councilman Zaveskyintroduced an ordinah6e annexing the 38.61-acre <br />tract, and moved its adoption on first reading. Dr. Craddock second- <br />ed the motion and on rollcall, the fol;bowing vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Craddock, Flores, King, Smith,'Yarbraugh,Zavesky <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the ordinance approved on first readinh. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced.an ordinance annexing 167 acres, as petitioned <br />by Thermon Industrial Corporation. Mr. Zavesky moved approval of <br />the ordinance annexing the 167-acre tract, on first reading. <br />Mr. Yarbrough seconded the motion and on roll call, the following <br />vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock, Flores, King. Smith, Yarbrough, Zavesky <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor decla'red the ordinance approved on first reading. <br /> <br />The Mayor read aloud a letter from Mrs. Dorothy Jean Rainey, <br />President of the Dunbar Neighborhood Council, proposing the name <br />of Mrs. Veda Callihan as a member of the Library Board. Asprev- <br />iously announced at a Council meeting, Mrs. Jim Griffith and Mr. <br />H.Y ~ Price, jr. will complete. their three-year terms this month, <br />and are not ~ligible for re~ppointment~ Dr. Craddock moved that <br />Mrs. Veda Callihan be appointed to the Library Board for a three- <br />year term. M.r. Zavesky seconded the motion, which passed unani- <br />mously. I t was agreed that names wO'uld be proposed in advance of <br />the July 13 meeting, to fill the second vacancy. Mr. Yarbrough <br />propo,s",d the. name of. Dr.. Martin J uel' for consideration at the <br />July 13 meeting. <br />
