Smith and Councilmen: Frank Contreras,jr., <br /> <br />Emmie Craddock, Ph.D., Luciano H. Flores, Ross King <br /> <br />and Herbert A. Yarbrough, jr. <br /> <br />when, among other business, the Council adopted the follow- <br /> <br />ing resolution: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION expressing a positive interest in securing <br /> <br />flood insurance under the National Flood Insurance Program, <br /> <br />and requesting the Federal Insurance Administrator to <br /> <br />declare the City of San Marcos, Texas eligible under the <br /> <br />program. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos is a political subdivision <br /> <br />of the State of Texas referred to in Article 8280-13, <br /> <br />Vernon's Revised Civil Statutes (Texas);tand <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, political subdivisions of the State of Texas are <br /> <br />authorized by Article 8280-13, Vernon's Revised Civil Statutes <br /> <br />(Texas) to take all necessary and reasonable actions to comply <br /> <br />with the requirements and criteria of the National Flood <br /> <br />Insurance Program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the geographical area under the jurisdiction of the <br /> <br />City of San Marcos has suffered damage from floods from the <br /> <br />San Marcos River, Sink Springs Creek, Purgatory Creek, and <br /> <br />McKie (Willow Springs) Creek; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of the City of San Marcos are desirous <br /> <br />of obtaining insurance coverage under the National Flood <br /> <br />Insurance Program; and <br />
