<br />WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos made application on <br /> <br /> <br />February 7, 1969 through the State Soil Conservation Board <br /> <br /> <br />for Public Law 566 assistance on the Upper San Marcos Water- <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />shed for flood control through construction of retarding dams, <br /> <br />and the field study is scheduled for July 13-17, 1970; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCI L OF THE <br /> <br /> <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br /> <br />THAT the City of San Marcos recognizes a public need for <br /> <br />flood insurance and hereby evidences a positive interest in <br /> <br />securing flood insurance coverage2under the National Flood <br /> <br />Insurance Program; and <br /> <br />THAT the City of San Marcos will cooperate with the Federal, <br /> <br />State and local agencies which undertake to study, survey, map, <br /> <br />and identify flood-prone areas, and to identify and evaluate <br /> <br />local flood hazards, all within the boundaries of the City; and <br />II THAT the City of San Marcos will adopt by December 31, 1971, <br />land use and control measures, with effective enforcement <br /> <br />measures, which are consistent with such criteria for land <br /> <br />management and use as may be developed by the Federal Insurance <br /> <br />Administrator; and <br /> <br />THAT the City of San Marcos will apply and enforce such land <br /> <br />use and control measures commencing as soon as the necessary <br /> <br />technical information on floodways and controlling flood <br /> <br />elevations becomes available ; and <br /> <br />THAT the City Manager is authorized and directed to submit <br /> <br />to the Federal Insurance Administrator, with the necessary <br /> <br />II supporting documentation, an application for the establishment <br /> <br />of premium rates and the declaration of eligibility of the <br /> <br />City of San Marcos for flood insurance coverage under the <br />
