<br />35 <br /> <br />PRO C LAM A T ION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of San Marcos have shown an ever-increasing concern <br /> <br />.1 <br /> <br />with the welfare of this nation's victims of neuromuscular disease; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon provides major support for <br /> <br />Muscular Dystrophy Associations of America, which sponsors a worldwide <br /> <br />program of scientific research into neuromuscular diseases and maintains <br /> <br />a network of 134 free elinicsto serve patients throughout the country <br /> <br />suffering from these crippling illnesses; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Mareos is fortunate to have local civic groups <br /> <br />who participate in the annual Labor Day Telethon -- an event which eaeh <br /> <br />year unites millions of volunteers from every corner of America and whieh, <br /> <br />with the dollars it raises, benefits the lives of so many more; <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Emmie Craddock, Mayor of the City of San Marcos, Texas, <br /> <br />do hereby proclaim August 3l - September 1 and 2, 1974, as: <br /> <br />"JERRY LEWIS MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY TELETHON WEEKEND" <br /> <br />in the City of San Mareos, and urge all eitizens to give full support, as <br /> <br />they have done so generously in the past, to the programs of Muscular <br /> <br />Dystrophy Assoeiations of America, to the unceasing efforts of its <br /> <br />National Chairman, Jerry Lewis, and to the generous donations of time and <br /> <br />energy by participating San Marcos civic groups. <br /> <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of <br /> <br />the City of San Marcos to be affixed thi~,-26th day of August, 1974. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br /> <br />'>- (C <br />(C-1k""-,-,- \.;cc---'i-ti'n/,-- <br />'Emmie Craddock -'--____ <br />Mayor <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />~ <br />
