MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 29-161 (b)(4) OF DIVISION 2, "PARKING METERS", ARTICLE VU, "STOPPING, STANDING, AND PARKING", CHAPTER 29, "TRAFFIC", BY EXTENDING, AutFlORIZEIl, PARKING METERS ALONG SAN ANTONIO STREET TO INCLUDE THAT PORTION OF SAN ANTONIO STREET FROM FREllERICKSBURG STREET TO FELTNER'S ALLEY,AND BY ADDING TO SECTION 29-161 (b) A SUB-PART (9) AUTHORIZING PARKING METERS ON THE WEST SIBE OF NORTH EDWARD GARY STREET FROM HOPKINS, STREET TO HUTCHISON STREET. I Mr. Hansen moved approval of the Ordinance on second reading. Mr. Arredondo seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The Mayor read the caption of an Ordinance as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, CHANGING THE NAME OF THE STREET KNOWN AS "JEFF DAVIS BOULEVARD", "COLORADO STREET", AND "LOOP 82 (OLD U.S. HIGHWAY 31) TO "UNIVERSITY DRIVE" AND ORDERING THE CITY SECRETARY AND CITY ENGINEER TO ENTER SAID CHANGE IN AND UPON OFFICIAL RECORDS AND MAPS. Mr. Hansen moved approval of the Ordinance on second reading. Mr. Arredondo seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The Mayor read the caption of an Ordinance as follows: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS" STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE ZONING,OF LOTS 5, 6, 7, 8, ~ AND PART OF 10, BLOCK 1 OF THE D.P. HOPKINS SECOND ADDITION, LOCATED AT 307 SOUTH L.B.J. DRIVE, FROM "c" (COMMERCIAL) TO "C-2" (COMMERCIAL). Mr. Arredondo moved approval of the Ordinance on third and final reading. Mr. Sutton seconded the motion. On roll call, the following vote was recorded: II AYE: Arredondo, Craddock, Flores, Hansen, Sutton NAY: Breihan. The Mayor declared the Ordinance PAssed, Approved and Adopted. The Mayor introduced for consideration the award of bid for a self-propelled rotary lawnmower. The City Manager reported that the Director of Parks and Recreation was recommending the mower be purchased from Goldthwaite's of Texas, the second low bidder, due to the fact that the low bid did not meet the specifications. Mr. Breihan expressed his opinion that the recommended mower would not perform the job for which it was intended, that the terrain of the Urban Renewal property was too irregular. He moved the item be tabled for further study. Mr. Flores seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Jim Alvis, K.K. Wang, and Bob Derrick,representatives of Forrest and Cotten, and Jim Byrn came before the Council to present plans for improvements to Broadway Street. Mr. Derrick stated that the plans drawn for Broadway Street provided for the street to be thirty-eight feet wide, curb to curb, that the Master Plan called for a sixty foot street, and that the ,Council might wish to consider a forty-four foot street. Mr. Derrick also presented possible solutions to drainage problems in the area with cost figures for all plans presented. Mr. Breihan and Mr. Sutton requested cost figures for the complete Wallace Addition improvement project. Dr. Craddock'moved the Council authorize planning for construction of Broadway as a 60 foot street, with adequate drainage improvements to be determined at a later date. Mr. Sutton seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. II On motion of Mr. Flores and second of Mr. Hansen, the Council recessed at 9:15 p.m. to discuss a personnel matter. The Council reconvened at 9:45 p.m. on motion of Mr. Breihan and second of Mr. Sutton. The Mayor announced that the Council had discussed charges which had been filed against a former City employee, but that no action was considered.
