MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 29-161 (b)(4) <br />OF DIVISION 2, "PARKING METERS", ARTICLE VU, "STOPPING, STANDING, AND <br />PARKING", CHAPTER 29, "TRAFFIC", BY EXTENDING, AutFlORIZEIl, PARKING METERS <br />ALONG SAN ANTONIO STREET TO INCLUDE THAT PORTION OF SAN ANTONIO STREET <br />FROM FREllERICKSBURG STREET TO FELTNER'S ALLEY,AND BY ADDING TO SECTION 29-161 <br />(b) A SUB-PART (9) AUTHORIZING PARKING METERS ON THE WEST SIBE OF NORTH <br />EDWARD GARY STREET FROM HOPKINS, STREET TO HUTCHISON STREET. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved approval of the Ordinance on second reading. Mr. Arredondo <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an Ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, CHANGING <br />THE NAME OF THE STREET KNOWN AS "JEFF DAVIS BOULEVARD", "COLORADO STREET", <br />AND "LOOP 82 (OLD U.S. HIGHWAY 31) TO "UNIVERSITY DRIVE" AND ORDERING THE <br />CITY SECRETARY AND CITY ENGINEER TO ENTER SAID CHANGE IN AND UPON OFFICIAL <br />RECORDS AND MAPS. <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved approval of the Ordinance on second reading. Mr. Arredondo <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an Ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES AND <br />RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS" STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED <br />MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE ZONING,OF LOTS 5, 6, 7, 8, ~ AND <br />PART OF 10, BLOCK 1 OF THE D.P. HOPKINS SECOND ADDITION, LOCATED AT 307 <br />SOUTH L.B.J. DRIVE, FROM "c" (COMMERCIAL) TO "C-2" (COMMERCIAL). <br /> <br />Mr. Arredondo moved approval of the Ordinance on third and final reading. <br />Mr. Sutton seconded the motion. On roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />AYE: Arredondo, Craddock, Flores, Hansen, Sutton <br />NAY: Breihan. <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance PAssed, Approved and Adopted. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration the award of bid for a self-propelled rotary <br />lawnmower. The City Manager reported that the Director of Parks and Recreation was <br />recommending the mower be purchased from Goldthwaite's of Texas, the second low <br />bidder, due to the fact that the low bid did not meet the specifications. Mr. Breihan <br />expressed his opinion that the recommended mower would not perform the job for <br />which it was intended, that the terrain of the Urban Renewal property was too <br />irregular. He moved the item be tabled for further study. Mr. Flores seconded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Jim Alvis, K.K. Wang, and Bob Derrick,representatives of Forrest and Cotten, and <br />Jim Byrn came before the Council to present plans for improvements to Broadway <br />Street. Mr. Derrick stated that the plans drawn for Broadway Street provided for <br />the street to be thirty-eight feet wide, curb to curb, that the Master Plan called <br />for a sixty foot street, and that the ,Council might wish to consider a forty-four <br />foot street. Mr. Derrick also presented possible solutions to drainage problems in <br />the area with cost figures for all plans presented. Mr. Breihan and Mr. Sutton <br />requested cost figures for the complete Wallace Addition improvement project. <br />Dr. Craddock'moved the Council authorize planning for construction of Broadway as <br />a 60 foot street, with adequate drainage improvements to be determined at a later <br />date. Mr. Sutton seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Flores and second of Mr. Hansen, the Council recessed at 9:15 p.m. <br />to discuss a personnel matter. <br /> <br />The Council reconvened at 9:45 p.m. on motion of Mr. Breihan and second of Mr. Sutton. <br />The Mayor announced that the Council had discussed charges which had been filed <br />against a former City employee, but that no action was considered. <br />
