<br />134 <br /> <br />regular meeting, october 20, 1975 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock read a Resolution in full, the caption of which is as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT 'AN APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS <br />MUNICIPAL LEAGUE FOR A 100% GRANT TO FINANCE A SOCIAL SERVICE <br />RESEARCH STUDY. <br /> <br />Mr. Arredondo moved approval of the Resolution. Mayor Craddock seconded the <br />motion. The City Manager explained the purpose of the study proposed was to <br />ascertain that the local social service agencies were not overlapping so that <br />maximum use of tax monies could be made. Mr. Dibrell obj ec ted to the use of I <br />local or federal tax monies for such a purpose, stating that it was the duty of . <br />the Council and City staff to make such a determination. On roll call, the <br />motion to approve the Resolution w~s approved by the following vote: <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock, Hansen, Sutton, Arredondo <br />NAY: Dibrell, Flores, Breihan. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration the award of bid for material, <br />labor and installation of fencing and dugout for the High School baseball <br />field. The bid sheet is attached and made a part of these minutes. Mr. Breihan <br />moved to accept the alternate bid of Stanley Hughson, $7594.52, and use existing <br />materials. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion. A representative of Austin Fence <br />Company, submit tor of the low base bid, came before the Council to state that he <br />had not submitted an alternate bid since he had not examined the existing poles, <br />but that he could submit a bid of $300 lower than the base bid as an alternate. <br />The City Attorney stated that the alternate bid could not be received after the <br />official closing date for submission of bids. On roll call, the motion to <br />award the bid to Stanley Rughsonpassed with the following vote: <br /> <br />AYE: Flores, Hansen, Breihan, Dibrell <br />NAY: Craddock, Sutton, Arredondo. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration authorization for expenditures from the <br />contingency fund as follows: Williamson Moving & Storage Company, $843.10; <br />M&N Electric Company, $815.50; Gibson, Spence & Gibson, $1,550; McGinnis, I <br />Lockridge & Kilgore, $1,833.20. Mr. Sutton moved approval of the expenditures. <br />Mr. Hansen seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an Ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THAT CERTAIN <br />ORDINANCE NUMBERED 1974-61 ESTABLISHING THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS AND <br />CLASSIFICATIONS FOR CIVIL SERVICE PERSONNEL BY REDUCING THE NUMBER OF <br />FIRE TRAINING OFFICER FROM ONE (1) IN NUMBER TO ZERO (0) IN NUMBER; <br />REDUCING THE NUMBER OF FIRE TRAINEES AND FIRE FIGHTERS FROM TWENTY- <br />TWO (22) IN NUMBER TO EIGHTEEN (18) IN NUMBER; REDUCING THE NUMBER OF <br />FIRE CAPTAINS FROM FOUR (4) IN NUMBER TO THREE (3) IN NUMBER; AND <br />INCREASING THE NUMBER OF POLICE TRAINEES AND PATROLMEN FROM TEN (10) <br />IN NUMBER TO FOURTEEN (14) IN NUMBER. <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved approval of the Ordinance on second reading. Mr. Sutton <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an Ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES <br />AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND <br />LAND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE ZONING OF FOUR <br />AND ONE-HALF ACRES IN THE J .M. VERAMENDI LEAGUE NUMBER TWO, BEING <br />THE PRESENT LOCATION OF THE HOLIDAY INN, LOCATED NEAR THE INTER- <br />SECTION OF I.H. 35 SOUTHBOUND ACCESS .ROAD AND LOOP 82, FROM "C" <br />(COMMERCIAL) TO "C-2" (COMMERCIAL). <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved approval of the Ordinance on third and final reading. <br />Mr. Sutton seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />
