207 regular meeting, february 23, 1976 page two The Mayor read an Ordinance, the caption of which is as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE III, DIVISION 1 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS BY REPEALING SEC. 2-31 OF SAID CODE AND SUBSTITUTING IN ITS PLACE A NEW SEC. 2-31; ESTABLISHING THE CLASSIFICATION WITHIN THE POLICE CIVIL SERVICE, CHANGING THE NAMES OF THE CLASSIFICATION OF POSITIONS WITHIN THE FIRE CIVIL SERVICE, THE NUMBER OF SUCH POSITIONS AUTHORIZED, AND THE SALARY SCHEDULE FOR SUCH POSITIONS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. Mr. Hansen moved the Ordinance be adopted. Mr. Breihan seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. I Mr. Hansen moved to take from the table an Ordinance approving the sale of Urban Renewal property to Aus-Tex Duplicators. Mayor Craddock seconded the motion. On roll call, the following vote was recorded: AYE: Arredondo, Craddock, Flores, Hansen, Sutton NAY: Breihan. Mayor Craddock read the caption of an Ordinance as follows: AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE PRICE AND CONDITIONS OF THE SALE BY THE URBAN RENEWAL AGENCY OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, OF PARCEL NO. 13D-9 (SEE LEGAL READING), LOCATED WITHIN TIlE JUAN VERAMENDI PROJECT, N.D.P., TEX. A-6, TO AUS-TEX DUPLICATORS, SOLE PROPRIETOR. Mr. Sutton moved approval of the Ordinance on first reading. Mr. Flores seconded the motion. Mr. Sutton asked how the Council could deny selling the property when the buyer understood that it would probably remain residential since the Department of Housing and Urban Development probably would not allow a change in the land use to commercial. Mr. Arredondo objected to the property being appraised at a lower price than other residential property in the area. The City Manager informed the Council that the bid could be rejected and the property reappraised at a later date when the improvements to Cheatham Street and the . completion of C.M. Allen Parkway could be taken into account. Mr. Sutton with- drew his motion to approVe the Ordinance and moved that the property be held until an appraiser could use the street improvements as a basis for determining the value of the property. Mr. Flores seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The Mayor read the caption of a Resolution as follows: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO CLOSE SCHULLE DRIVE TO THROUGH TRAFFIC BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9:00 A.M. AND 1:00 P.M. ON APRIL 10, 1976, TO ALLOW THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT TO CONDUCT SKATEBOARDING COMPETITION ON SAID STREET. Mr. Flores moved adoption of the Resolution. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The Mayor read the caption of a Resolution as follows: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING INDENTURE FOR THE CONVEYANCE OF 31. 801 ACRES OF LAND AT THE GARY JOB CORPS CENTER TO TUR CITY OF SAN MARCOS FROM THE GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAME ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS. A RESOLUTION OF TIlE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING AN ALLOCATION OF REVENUE SHARING FUNDS FOR ENTITLEMENT PERIOD NUMBER SEVEN IN THE AMOUNT OF $1500 AND COMMITTING SAME TO THE RESTORATION AND REPAIR OF THE TABERNACLE LOCATED AT SAN MARCOS CEMETERY. Mr. Sutton moved the Resolution be adopted. Mr. Breihan seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
