<br />207 <br /> <br />regular meeting, february 23, 1976 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />The Mayor read an Ordinance, the caption of which is as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 2, <br />ARTICLE III, DIVISION 1 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS BY REPEALING SEC. 2-31 OF SAID CODE AND SUBSTITUTING IN <br />ITS PLACE A NEW SEC. 2-31; ESTABLISHING THE CLASSIFICATION WITHIN <br />THE POLICE CIVIL SERVICE, CHANGING THE NAMES OF THE CLASSIFICATION <br />OF POSITIONS WITHIN THE FIRE CIVIL SERVICE, THE NUMBER OF SUCH <br />POSITIONS AUTHORIZED, AND THE SALARY SCHEDULE FOR SUCH POSITIONS; <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved the Ordinance be adopted. Mr. Breihan seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved to take from the table an Ordinance approving the sale of <br />Urban Renewal property to Aus-Tex Duplicators. Mayor Craddock seconded the <br />motion. On roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Arredondo, Craddock, Flores, Hansen, Sutton <br />NAY: Breihan. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock read the caption of an Ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE PRICE AND CONDITIONS OF THE SALE BY THE <br />URBAN RENEWAL AGENCY OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, OF PARCEL NO. <br />13D-9 (SEE LEGAL READING), LOCATED WITHIN TIlE JUAN VERAMENDI PROJECT, <br />N.D.P., TEX. A-6, TO AUS-TEX DUPLICATORS, SOLE PROPRIETOR. <br /> <br />Mr. Sutton moved approval of the Ordinance on first reading. Mr. Flores seconded <br />the motion. Mr. Sutton asked how the Council could deny selling the property <br />when the buyer understood that it would probably remain residential since the <br />Department of Housing and Urban Development probably would not allow a change in <br />the land use to commercial. Mr. Arredondo objected to the property being <br />appraised at a lower price than other residential property in the area. The <br />City Manager informed the Council that the bid could be rejected and the property <br />reappraised at a later date when the improvements to Cheatham Street and the . <br />completion of C.M. Allen Parkway could be taken into account. Mr. Sutton with- <br />drew his motion to approVe the Ordinance and moved that the property be held until <br />an appraiser could use the street improvements as a basis for determining the <br />value of the property. Mr. Flores seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a Resolution as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO CLOSE SCHULLE <br />DRIVE TO THROUGH TRAFFIC BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9:00 A.M. AND 1:00 P.M. <br />ON APRIL 10, 1976, TO ALLOW THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT TO <br />CONDUCT SKATEBOARDING COMPETITION ON SAID STREET. <br /> <br />Mr. Flores moved adoption of the Resolution. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a Resolution as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING INDENTURE FOR THE CONVEYANCE OF 31. 801 ACRES OF LAND AT <br />THE GARY JOB CORPS CENTER TO TUR CITY OF SAN MARCOS FROM THE GENERAL <br />SERVICES ADMINISTRATION OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT, AND AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAME ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a Resolution as follows: <br /> <br />I' <br /> <br />Mr. Breihan moved the Resolution be adopted. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF TIlE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AUTHORIZING AN ALLOCATION OF REVENUE SHARING FUNDS FOR ENTITLEMENT <br />PERIOD NUMBER SEVEN IN THE AMOUNT OF $1500 AND COMMITTING SAME TO <br />THE RESTORATION AND REPAIR OF THE TABERNACLE LOCATED AT SAN MARCOS CEMETERY. <br /> <br />Mr. Sutton moved the Resolution be adopted. Mr. Breihan seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br />
