COCHRAN, A FRANCHlSE FOR THE <br />FURNISHING OF PASSENGER - TRANSPORTATION BY MOTOR-BUS SERVICE TO THE <br />CITIZENS OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, UNDER CERTAIN TERMS, DUTIES AND <br />RESTRICTIONS. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />That Horace B. Cochran, of the City of San Marcos, Texas, his <br />heirs and assigns, be, and he is hereby granted the right and fran- <br />chise in the City of San Marcos to conduct the business of install- <br />ing, maintaining, managing, operating and running a system of <br />transportation of passengers by motor bus, at the rates set forth <br />below, together with the consequent right and franchise to use, as <br />he, his heirs and assigns, may elect, any or all of the streets, <br />highw~, bridges, viaducts and public ways of the City of San Marcos <br />in the conducting of such business, under the following terms, duties <br />and restrictions, to-wit: <br />FIRST. The term of this grant shall be for the five (5) years <br />from the final date of passage of this ordinance, at the end of <br />which time the rights herein granted shall be forfeited and shall <br />terminate. <br />SECOND. Horace B. COChran, hereinafter called the grantee, his <br />heirs and assigns, shall conduct such business of the transportation <br />of passengers by motor bus in such manner as shall be to the benefit <br />of the City of San Marcos and its inhabitants, rendering good, <br />efficient, and prompt transportation service, and may charge there- <br />for rates not to exceed ten (10) cents for one continuous passage <br />of any person within the city between the termini of any lien. Said <br />fares are deemed and declared to be reasonable. <br />THIRD. The termini and depot structures, if any, of the grantee <br />herein, his heirs and assigns, shall be placed and erected in such <br />manner and in such places as not to interfere with the use of the <br />streets, highways, bridges, viaducts and public ways by said city, <br />or the inhabitants thereof, or with the orderly conduct of the busi- <br />ness of such city, or of the rights of any other public service <br /> <br />1 <br />
