There was a check made <br />and it was found that the pressure is ]f.O, which is very good. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />There was a discussion on a license agreement with the Missouri-Kansas- <br />Texas Railroad Lines. Alderman Smith made a motion that the resolution- <br />approving a pipe line licBllse agreement, dated & effective, September 1, <br />195'~_, between the City of SaYl Marcos and Missouri-Kansas, -Texas Railroad <br />Company of 'rexas, covering installation of one 6-inch sanitary sewer line <br />across said railroad compar~rls premises at a point described in said <br />license agreement, we passed. Alderman illen seconded the motion. A <br />vote was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. <br />The Lieanse agreement follows these minutes. <br /> <br />It was stated that-the Texag Highway Department is contemplating buying <br />a certain 8 acres of land located near the sewer dispClll.l plant. The <br />Highway Department would like to know approximately what we would ask <br />for the propel'ty. After some discussion, Alder;'J1.an Allen made a motion <br />that we offer to sell the .land at ($600.00 an acre to the Highway Dept. <br />Alderman De Viney seconded the motion. A vote was taken whichresulted <br />unanimously in favor of the motion. <br /> <br />Mr. John Smith then stated that there is a traffic hazard at the new <br />school. The children have to walk along the side of the-street and <br />there is great danger of them being hit by an automobile. He asked <br />that something be done to eliminate this hazard. It was suggested that <br />D~. Barbee, Mr. McWilliams, and Mr. Allbright investigate the matter <br />to find some solution. Mr. McWilliams stated that he could make a <br />sidewalk along the-edge of the golf course. They decided to talk to <br />Mr. Paul Rogers about the problem. <br /> <br />Mr. Johnson then stated that there will be approximately ,!~20,000.OO <br />left over from the bond issue of recent date. He stated that the money <br />could be used for other water and sewer extensions in the City. <br />The Council asked t~at ~r. Barbee find out which places are in the most <br />need for water and sewer. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />An ordinance granting to Horace B. Cochran, a franchise for the furnish- <br />ing of passenger - transportation by motor-bus service to the citizens <br />of San Marcos, Texas, under certain terrrill. duties and restrictions was <br />presented to the Council for adoptli:on. Alderman Smith made a motion <br />that the ordinance be adopted. Alderman Beecroft seconded the motion. <br />A vote was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. <br />The ordinance follows these minutes. <br /> <br />Mr. Barbee stated that 10 ft. is needed for the rieht-of-way in the <br />Satterwhite Addition. After some discussion ~he Council asked Mr. Barbee <br />to talk to Mr. Satterwhite to try to make some agreement whereas the <br />City could buy the property. <br /> <br />After some discussion on repairing the Chamber of CmEnerce Building, <br />the Council asked Mr. Barbee to obtain estimates on the repair job. <br /> <br />The Academy is in need of a sewer line which will cost approximately <br />:[il,OOO.OO. There is a manhole near the dormitory in need of sewer. <br />The Council agreed to grant the Academy permission to run the sewer <br />line from the manhole. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Council then appro][vd placing parking meters in front of the old <br />locker plant across from Wuest's store. <br /> <br />There was a discussion on hiring another policeman. It was stated that <br />this would require another car. He stated that he <br />plans to build a nmnber of homes in that sub-division and that it would <br />be profitable to the City if .it was taken into the City. He would like <br />to be in the City Limits as he would be refunded some of the money he <br />will have to put into water and sewer lines. The Council decided to <br />give the matter consideration. <br />
