The
letter stated that due to the fact that the San Marcos Independent School
District and the City of San Marcos are two separate political sub-divisions
the City.does not feel that it is obligated tn furnishing utilities to the
new bldg. Mr. Smith asked that the Council explain the letter in more detail.
There was a discussion during which Mayor Dietterich stated that the City
would appreciate being notified at an early date when utilities, etc. are
going to be needed. Mr. Barbee stated that he knew of one way the problem
might be solved. Walter Feltner is going to lay a sewer line in his addition
which is near the new school bldg. site. Mr. Barbee talked to iiiI'. Feltner
and he s ta ted he might be willing to lay a lal'ger line if the Ci ty would
pay the difference in price between the line he plaruled to lay and the size
needed for the school. It was stated that approximately 20~ of the children
to use the school are out of the City Limits. The suggestion w'as made I
that the sewer contract with the schoel be revised and the charge for
sewer be increased for the school. Joe Hutchision recuested that a
letter be written to him stating that the City wotlld furnish utilities
to the new school if the Council so decided. Mr. Ba~ee stated. that a
survey would be required if the Vial tel' Feltner line was tcl"be us ed for
the school. The COlIDCil asked Mr. Barbee to look into the matter.
Alderman Allen ~ade a ~otion that the City agree to run water and sewer
lines to the school property line located on the Seguin Highway, and that
the sewer-charge contract with the school be reviewed.
