Austin ~treet was pre- <br />sented to the Cou~'lcil It was stated that 35 meters will be Deeded and <br />that they will cost ;~b4.00 each and the 2k- in. ScandaY.ds and Collars will <br />cost .00 each, the total being \P2,380.00. Alderman Smith made a motion <br />that City purchase the 35 meters at ~i;6B.oo each. Alderman De Viney <br />seconded the i:l1otion. A vote ~vas tal{en 'Nhich resulted unanimously in J'avor <br />of' the mot1on. <br /> <br />There was a short discussion on whether or not to install a traffic I. <br />light on Comal Street.. Mr. McWillimns was instructed to have the traffic <br />counted on that street. <br /> <br />The Council discussed the necossity of appointing a Zoning ;:Ooard. <br />It was agreed that the City Secretary should get some informatj_on that <br />mi2;ht be helpful from the Texas League of Mul1icipalities. <br /> <br />'There was a discussion about. the parking s9ace in front of S~ni th <br />Clelli~ers. 11il'. Smith has stated that one of the spaces is reser'ved for <br />the 'Nestern Union and the other parkins; spaces a1'e taken up by people <br />who have purchas ad the ,c?). 00 per month parking stickers, therefc<re, <br />his customers have no place to park. He had reauested that he be Der- <br />mitted to buy a ~eter or that SO~G method be wo;ked out vmereas he- <br />would have a place for his customers to park. After a discussion, <br /> <br />Alderl:lan De Viney made a 111otion that the use of the ~~5 .00 per tD.onth <br />parkine; stickers be discontinued as of January 31, 1955, as they defeat <br />the purpose of paY'kinG meters. Alder!nan Allen .seconded the motion. A <br />vote \vas taken which resulted unanimo-:.1s1y in .favor of' the motion. <br /> <br />An ordinance creating the iirDort board; appointing lli8}nbers of <br />said board; pro~;tding for appointment of subsequest members; ani def'ining <br />the povlJers and the dutics of sBJd airport ooa::edj Vlas presented to the <br />Council for adoption. AlcieI)~11an S:rnitl1 made a ::Hotion that the ord.inance <br />be adopted. AlderDl.2n Allen seco:n.ded the motion. A vote was taken vv-hich <br />rosulted unanimously in favor of tho motion. 'rhe ordinance follows these 1 <br />minutes. v <br /> <br />The fact that there are a lot of people who have not tied on to the <br />City SeV'i'er line when it is available, was- to the attention of <br />the Council. ll'lr. Alderman Smi th s econcied the ::riotion. A vote -l/va3 <br />c tal,en which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. <br /> <br />'l'here was a discussion on the highway right-of-way. No action was I <br />taken. <br /> <br />Alderman S;nith luade a ;notion. that Jack Major's salary be increased <br />from ':;175.00 to .JO per :'10nth, ef':"ective January 1, 1955. and that <br />D. E. Thomas's salary be :Lncreased from:;225.:JO to :;.;2~0.OO per ;1Jonth" <br />effective January 1, 1955. Alderman De. Viney secondGa the motion.
