<br />.H <br /> <br />After further discussion the Council requested that Mr. Drought oe contacted <br />by Mr. Barofle in order, that the Council might get an idea of the cost, etc. <br />on the two fire stations. Mr. Bales stated that he would be glad to get <br />the cost on two or three fire stations which have been built recently in <br />near-by cities. <br /> <br />o <br />o <br />c... <br />C':l <br />~= <br /> <br />There was a discussion on water s~mpleswhich have been tru{en from <br />the City Park Swimming Pool and other places on the, river. Dr. Moore talked <br />wi th the Counci 1 about these samples and others whi ch were taken by Jame s <br />Burwell. <br /> <br />Dr. Moore also asked the Council if it would be at all possible for <br />the City to pave the driveway behind the hospital. Mr. McWilliams <br />was instructed to pave the driveway at his earliest convenience. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Lloyd Martin from tue Unl ted Gas Corp. met vii th the Counci. 1 to <br />discuss Porter St. parking. He said thereo were about 8 or 10 ca.rs <br />involved. He stated that they would like for the City to d0 something <br />besides installing no parking signs on that street along side the <br />Housi:Clg Project. Mr. McWilliams stated tMtthe City could pave or gravel <br />the strip of land beside the housing units, which belongs to the Housing <br />Authority, and make an entrance ,off Porter Street to this parking area. <br />In that way, the,people livlngin the project could'park near their homes <br />without blocking porter Street. After a discussion, the Council unariimously <br />gave ]y[r. ]'ccWilliams the authority to start making the parking area fu'1.d <br />entrance off porter Street. <br /> <br />Terry Jacks met with the Council to present Tsmael Rosalez' application <br />to operate a taxi cab business in San'Marcos. Mr. Jacks stated that Mr. Rosalez <br />would cater to the Mexican population, although he will pick up anyone who <br />calls him. He stated that he felt that 1~. Rosalez would render a good service <br />and follow all rules., A letter (follo.ring these minutes) was presented to <br />the Council from Doyle ;O;cott and H. 3. Cochran protesting the approval of <br />Mr. Rosales' application. After a discussion on the matter, Alderman Hill <br />made a motion that the City approve the taxi business franchise of ' Mr. Rosale.z. <br />as long as he complies with the City~ San Marcos' Taxi Ordinance. <br />Alderrr~n De Viney seconded the motion. A vote was tw{en which resulted <br />unanimously in favor of the, mo tiori. It was stated' that lVIr. Scot t' s <br />and lVIr. Cochran's' protes t letter wasrej ected becaus ethe Council I <br />did not feel that it should grant any exclusive franchises. <br /> <br />Alderman Hill made a motion that a resolution be passed <br />approving Ismael Rosalez' application' to operation' a taxi 'bus iness. <br />Alderman De Viney seconded the motion. A'vote was taken which resulted <br />unanimously in favor of the motion. The resolution follows these <br />minutes and is a part hereof. <br /> <br />There was a discussion on buying a new loader for the Street Depart- <br />ment. Mr. McWilliams stated that there is a need for another loader, <br />e.Hpecially since the Park work hasb8('.;un. Mr; Barbee stated that it would <br />be possible for the City to buy the~ader by paying a sertain m~ount each <br />month. The City General Fund will be paid a certain amount each month <br />out of the Park Fund, representing equipment rental. 'The Council <br />unanimously approved the purchasing of the new loader. <br /> <br />The following bill from Tom G. Oliver, Jr. was presented to the <br />Council for approval: <br /> <br />In Cause llo. 7216, styled rlC. The Council unanimously <br />approved payment of this bill, after Alderman Beecrof't made a motion <br />that it be paid and Alderman g~~th seconded it. <br /> <br />There was a discussion concerning the Ci'ty ~avinG the street <br />'in the Weatherford Addition which runs along side of the warehouse and <br />turns down by tho three houses. Alderman Beecroft made a motion that <br />the street be paved by the City. Alderman Smith seconded the m~tion. <br />A vote was taken w,ich resulted unanimously in favor of the motlon. <br />After the street is paved, it is to be dedicated to the City. <br />
