G. Barbee had done an <br />excellent job of managing the city's affairs since he took office as <br />Executive Secretary, as well as handling the city's books. He stated <br />that it was his opinion that the Council should increase Mr. Barbee's <br />salary. After a discussion, Alaerman Beecroft made a motion that <br />W. G. Barbee's yearly salary be increased ipl,200.00.00, effect-ive <br />July 1, 1955. Alderm~~ De Viney seconded the motion. A vote was taken <br />which resulted unaaimously in favor of the motion. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Council discussed the water pressure uroblem that had been discussed <br />b~sr l\flayor D1etterich and Mr. \V. At the time theli.ne was installed, there <br />were only three connections on the line. ]\ill'. Williams had given the line <br />to the city. Now there are twelve openings, wh:ich causes the water <br />nressure to be very low. He had stated that someone is planni.ng to tie <br />another house on to this line.- He wanted to InlOW if a larger line could <br />be installed.. After a discussion, it "\Nas sug__.'ested that l\rlr. Barbee <br />talk to fur. Willia~s and others in that area to see if they.mi&ht <br />agree te the annexation of that nroperty to the city lirrQts. The Council <br />stated that, if that property was taken into tJle city limits, a 6 inch <br /> <br />water main could be run to that area for fire protection. No further <br />action was taken. <br />
