<br />'82 <br /> <br />representing tap fees and inspection fees on the Housing Project, which <br />were due at the'time it was built. He told the Council that he thought <br />it would be nice to use this money to remodel the Chamber of Co~~erce <br />office. He reported that he had received an estimate from Bob Lorenz <br />in the amount of $3,500.00, covering work on the walls, ceiling and <br />floors, including electrical v.ork and painting. Alderman 3mi th made a <br />motion that Mr. Barbee proceed with the remodeling of the Chamber of <br />Commerce of Pice building. Alderman De Viney seconded the motion. A <br />vote was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. <br />Alderman Beecroft made a motion that Mr. Barbee be authorized to hire <br />someone to do the work on the Chamber of Com.~erce of "ice. Alderman <br />Hill seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously <br />in favor of the motion. <br /> <br />Mayor Dietterich read a letter to the Council, which had been <br />received from Mayor W. R. West of McKinney, Texas, concerning the plans <br />of the Veterans Administration to close the veterans hospital at <br />McKinney. In the letter, Mayor West stated that petitions and letters <br />protesting the closing of this hospital were needed, in order to prevent <br />the Closing. He set forth several points against the closing of the <br />hospital, and asked that Mayor Dietterich and the Councilmen write to <br />the Senators and Congressmen to state their opinions on this subject. <br />The Counc~l unanimously approved writing to the Senators and Congressmen <br />stating that, if these are true facts, it is their opinion that the <br />matter should be investigated thoroughly before any action is taken <br />on closing the hospital. <br /> <br />Mr. Barbee stated that the old Ford garbage truck is in bad condition <br />and Roy Lane has suggested that we sell it. Two bids on said truck <br />were received which were as follows: <br /> <br />G. M. C. Wreckin~ Co. <br />Wimberley, Texas~ <br /> <br />Bid on 46 Ford truck <br /> <br />~~ 160.00 <br /> <br />Meyer's Auto Parts <br />San Marcos, Texas <br /> <br />Bid on 1946 Ford 'rruck <br /> <br />$ 171.00 <br /> <br />Alderman Beecroft made a motion that the bid be awarded to Meyer's <br />Auto Parts in the a~ount of 0171.00 as high bidder. Alderman Allen <br />seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously in <br />favor of the motion. <br /> <br />An ORDINANCE TO PREVENT BREACHES OF THE PEACE, l'RESPASSING ON ernE PROPERTY <br />OF O'rHERS, WINDOW-PKSPING, EAVESDROPPING MiD PRESCRIBING O}'FEN3ES AND <br />PROVIDING A PENALTY,was presented to the Council for adoption. Alderman <br />Beecroft made a mo tion that the ordinsIlce on window-pe eping, as des cribed <br />above, be adopted. Alderman Allen seconded the motion. A vote was taken <br />which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. The ordinance follows <br />these minutes and is a part hereof. <br /> <br />o <br />r.I'j <br />o <br />== <br />Q. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Barbee reported that he haa talked with representatives of the <br />Telephone Company concerning the installation of a P.B.X. system in the <br />City Hall. He atated that the present phone bill for all City and <br />Utilities phones is ~:~163.10 per month. The charge for a P.B.X. system <br />covering 20 phones would be $175.85 per month. There would be a 1/2 rate <br />for 10 connections to the fire stations. After a discussion on this <br />matter, Alderman Hill made a motion that the Council approve the installation <br />of a P.B.X. system in the City Hall Building. Alderman Beecroft seconded <br />the motion. A vote 'was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of <br />the motion. <br /> <br />Mayor Dietterich then stated that he thinks young men interested <br />in municipal affairs could get practical experience by regularly <br />attending meetings of the City council. He sug;,;ested that each Civic <br />Club send a representative to sit in on each meeting for six months. <br />There was a discussion, after which the Council gave instructions that <br />a letter be written to each Civic Club suggesting this procedure to <br />them. <br /> <br />Mayor Dietterich presented a letter which he had received from <br />Mr. Ceasar Cone of the Cone Mills Corporation, Greensboro, N. C., in <br />answer to our recent letter to him concerning costs of utilities to <br />the Cone Mills property. The Council reviewed this letter, after <br /> <br />which, Alderman Allen suggested that the City answer Mr. Cone's letter. <br />The City's reply to Mr. Cone's letter follows these minutes and is a pErt <br />hereof. <br /> <br />I <br />
