It was stated that a larger water <br />line would remedy this situation, however, the Council did not <br />feel that it would be advisable to spend a great amount of money <br />rEjquired in laying a b inch water line outside the City Limits. <br />It was the opinion of the ~ouncil however, that theoe people should <br />be given some relief if possible. It was stated that possibly a <br />two inch water line would serve the purpose and not cost so <br />much. The Council reeuested that a report be made to determine <br />the cost of a two inch water main in that area. <br /> <br />The Council then discussed the prices now being charged for cemetery <br />lots. It was stated that these prices are very low. After <br />a discussion Alderman Hillburn made a motion that the follow,", <br />ing prices be charged for all cemetery lots effective May 1, 1956, <br />due to recent additional costs for preparing maps and making <br />surveys. Alderman Davis seconded the motion. A vote was taken <br />which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />2 Lots - $20.00 <br />4 Lots - $40.00 <br />6 Lots - $60.00 <br />8 Lots - $80.00 <br /> <br />There was a short discussion on the Army Reserve Armory which will <br />be builtin the Ci ty park, Mr. 3,.rbee stat ed that the lawyers <br />are in the process of preparing all papers necessary in the <br />transaction. <br /> <br />W. G. 8arbee then Dresented a letter of resignation from the <br />position of Executive Secretary. In the IGtter Mr. Barbee stated <br />that this action was being taken dUG to the fact that he has <br />been neglecting his accounting business and due to his health. <br />He stated that he Vlould be agreeable to continuing the Budget I <br />and financial work for the city, however, he would prefer to <br />do this work from his O?ffi office on N.Austin St. The Council <br />requested Mr. Barbee to defer his resignation lli~til the end <br />of May, 1956, in order that some arrangements could be made. <br /> <br />There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was <br />agjourned at 4:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The foregoing and above minutes is ~rue ano/: c,orrect record <br />of all matters transpiring at t(:e r,e e>mgullar I1l;!.J;-~ng held <br />May 2, 1956.
