~

SilCTION HOSE BRACKETS, ~, t ~...The suction hose brackets are made of
tubular steel to conform with ladder brackets, and are fastened to the
body in like manner. The suction hose troughs are constructed of 12 gauge
metal and of sufficient length to hold the hard suction hose in straight
line. Suction hose locks are of quick-acting type, and all springs and
other mechanism are enclosed and packed in grease. The locks are made of
brass and chromium-plated. The tubular brackets also serve as wire 'conduits.

-,

~ RAILINGS ! ~~.. .Are made of I" brass pipe chromium-plated, and extend
all the way along top of hose body on both sides from front to rear to a point
flush with bottom of body. They are fastened by means of 14 heavy chromium-
plated stanchions. There is also a chromium-plated bar across rear of hose
body to serve as a handhold for men riding the rear step. This bar is
approximately 14" above top of body and made in the shape of a "U" in one
piece. It is securely fastened to the rear suction hose bracket on left
side and to the rear ladder bracket on right side. It is very handsome in
appearance and unique in design. Chromium-plated rear pick-up lights are
fastened on both sides of this cross bar, one on the right side and one on
the left.

REAR STEP, RUNNING BOARDS & DUST SHIELDS.. .The rear step or platform and running
- "];Qar~ mideOf 1/8" diaiiiOiiii'floorplate, - the outer edges of which are
rounded to form a 2!" lip. The corners of the rear step are covered with
a brass Chromium-plated casting. It also has l~" x l~" X ~" angle iron
welded on underneath side for reinforcement to fom a substantial bumper.
This rear step extends the full width of truck from out to out of fenders
and is 24" deep. The side running boards are made in like manner. The
dust shields, or splash aprons, extend the full length of the body, entirely
concealing the springs and spring shackles, and across the rear end, forming
a complete enclosure. The shields on the rear are made of diamond plate.
There is adequate provision for Chassis lubrication.

FENDERS.. .Front fenders are those furnished with Chassis. Rear fenders are of our
-own design and make, and constructed of 16 gauge bonderized sheet metal with
rolled edges turned up on the inside to fom a trough for drainage and for
extra strength, and have a skirt on rear of fender to conform with present
day styling. Three ~ aluminum. stell-plates are mounted on each rea'r
fender. They are poliShed and processed, and are placed: one to the front,
one on top, and one to the rear.

',I

SIMMS FIRE ~U!PMFJllT COMPANY
San Antonio, Texas

Page 5
