<br />The Council then reviewed the above bids, after which r;eorge Small made
<br />a recommendation that the bid be awarded to Shearson, Hammill & company
<br />as their bid was the low bid. Alderman Beecroft made a motion that
<br />the bid on the $3.50,000.00 Highway: Right-Of-'\Tay Rands be awarded to
<br />Shears on, Haw~ill & Company. Alderman Allen seconded the motion. A
<br />vote was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion.

<br />Terry Jacks, Francis Mercer, and C. L. Haynes, representing the San
<br />Marcos Fire Department, met with the council to discuss the problems
<br />that arise at each fire due to the cars following the fire trucks
<br />and the volunteer firemen. They stated that the Fire Department is
<br />of the opinion that a notice be placed in the S~~ Marcos Record stating
<br />that followin~ fire trucks and volunteer firemen is in violation of
<br />the law, and that,should anyone be caught doin~ same, they will be
<br />fined up to ,iB200.00. Mr. Jacks sUGgested that this notice be placed
<br />on the Radio and the ColleGe star also. Alderman Beecroft made a motion
<br />that the above action be approved by the Council. Alderman Allen
<br />seconded the motion. A vote was taken which 2"esulted unanimously
<br />in favor of the motion.

<br />Clarence King met with the council to request permission from the
<br />council to have one parking meter removed in front of Scott's
<br />APpliance Store on ','1. San Antonio st., in order that a driveway
<br />could be built for customer par' Ling space. He stated that to
<br />build this entrance way, it will be necessary to remove one parking
<br />meter and possibly the post office box. Alderman Beecroft stated
<br />that the Council would have no jurisdiction over the post office
<br />box. Alderman Allen made a motion that the council approve the
<br />removal of the parking meter in front of scott.s APpliance Score
<br />subject to Wm. C. Allbright.s approval. Alderr~n Peecroft seconded
<br />the motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously infavor
<br />of the motion.
