I.

I

I

deep, if memory serves me correctly. If the value of the house
is destroyed, all that I will have remaining is a lot of land
of the dimensions stated, or rather subtracting therefrom the
strip you need.

I will settle with you for the sum which I owe to Judge
Decker, which is about $2,600.00. In so doing, I will be taking
a loss of not less than $2,100.00. figurea as follows: Cost
price, $4,200.00; improvements, $1,500.00; total, $5,700.00.
I figure the remaining lot will not be worth in excess of
$1,000.00, and this plus the $2,600.00 you pay me to be a total
of $3.600.00. Deducting the $3.600.00 from the $5.700.00 leaves
the net loss to me.

If you gentlemen feel that I am inaccurate in my
statement that the value of the house is destroyed, I would be
willing for you to remove the house from the lot at your expense.
leaving me only the plumbing therefrom.

In making this written offer to the City, it has been
my effort and purpose to be as fair as humanly possible for me
to be, as I am aware that my status as a city employee puts
me in a category where I should try to lean backwards in being '7 (40 c'
fair with the City. However. I do not feel that I should be
called upon to take any more loss than the $2,100.00 above
stated, which would result from your paying me the $2,600.00
mentioned.

Of course, I would expect you to bear the expense of
setting the fence back to the new line on both of my properties
in addition to the $2,600.00 mentioned. In my own mind, I
feel that I am giving the City the strip of land off of my
homeplace without any compensation therefor, and this in addition
to the $2,100.00 loss on the Decker place.

Yours very truly,

~~~
Roy Lane
---v
yO
-2-
