<br />//% <br /> <br />PROCLAMA nON <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United States of America is one of the founders of the United <br />Na tions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the cultural, political and spiritual beliefs of the American people <br />are dedicated to the promotion of an International understanding to insure <br />a stable, prosperous and peaceful world; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Charter of the United Nations provides for conciliation, <br />negotiation and understanding in the settlement of International problems; <br />and <br /> <br />WHiREA::i, the General Assembly of the United Nations has resolved that <br />October 24th, the Anniversary of the United Nations' Charter, be dedicated <br />to a better understanding of the principles and purposes of the United Nations. <br /> <br />NO,V, THEREFORE, I, CALVIN M. ALLEN, Mayor of the City of San Marcos, do hereby <br />callan the citizens of San Marcos to observe Thursday, October 24th, as <br />United Nations' Day and urge the press, radio, civic groups, school authorities <br />and citizens to observe this date and to dedicate themselves to a better under- <br />standing of the purposes, principles and accomplishments of the United Nations <br />in preserving world peace. <br /> <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, T have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City <br />of San Marcos to be affixed ~his 17th day of October, A.
