Alderman Hillburn made the motion to accept <br />these appointments, as per the recommendation, which was seconded by <br />Alderman Steakley and received a unanimous vote for this acceptance by <br />the Counci 1. <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Sam R. Lyle, Wimberly, Texas, has filed preliminary plans <br />for. the development of a small sub-division on F.M. Highway 12, the old <br />M. B. Wilson place. Development of this sub-division was tentatively <br />approved pending submission of the final plans of the area in compliance <br />with the Sub-division Ordinance, Article III, Section C2, pertaining to <br />lot area provided that residential lots not served by public sewerage <br />system, would have to be complied with. <br /> <br />It was decided to table the request by residents of Loop Street I <br />that the City Council consider providing a sewer line to serve that area <br />until a complete report concerning this area could be furnished the Council. <br /> <br />The State Department of Health, Division of Water Pollution Control <br />and the U. S. Public Health Service Regional Construction Program Iiliirector, <br />have notified the City that the project for the construction of a Lift <br />Station and Force Main have been approved and the City may proceed with <br />advertising the project and calling for bids. In lieu of a conclusive re- <br />port on the infiltration and other items with respect to the present sewage <br />system, it was decided by the Council to delay further action for considera- <br />tion at the January meeting. <br /> <br />It was brought to the attention of the Council that two of the sewer <br />plant operators are getting $12.50 per month less in salaries than men who <br />are performing comparable work at the water pumping Station and it was stated <br />by the City Manager that he felt that men satisfactorily accomplishing the <br />same jobs should be compensated equally. It was, therefore, unanimously de- <br />cided by the Council to increase the wages of Mr. Henry Schaefer and <br />Mr. Ottis Taylor in the amount of $12.50 per month. Upon motion made by <br />Alderman Steakley and seconded by Alderman Davis, it was unanimously'agreed to <br />increase Mr. Carl Wilson's salary from $375.00 per month to $400.00 per month. <br />It was also unanimously agreed that the City Manager be given the authority <br />to make salary adjustments in the future, and be deferred until the prepara- <br />tion of the budget for the next fiscal year. <br /> <br />At a regular meeting of the Council on January 9th, of this year, <br />the following action was taken by the Council: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />"The subject then being called to the Council's attention, <br />it waS decided that due to so many apartment vacancies, <br />that after an apartment has been vacant for sixty (60) days, <br />the City will remove the 50~ garbage charge until such <br />apartment has been rented". <br /> <br />It was recommended by the City Manager that property owners request- <br />ing credit for vacancies, be requested to file a notarized affidavit setting <br />forth the time the apartment has been vacant and the amount of refund re- <br />quested, to be effective on January 1, 1958, for the January billing, and <br />all apartment owners to be notified in advance. If they come to the office <br />to pay, the affidavits can be prepared and acknowledged and if paying by <br />mail, the notarized affidavits, for the credits requested, must accompany <br />the payment. This recommendation received a unanimous decision by the <br />Council. <br /> <br />A report of preliminary estimates for the Utility billing and tax <br />posting equipment was given as follows: <br /> <br />Automatic Machine <br />Water Account Ledger Sheets with <br />Indexes and trays <br />Tax Billing receipts and files <br /> <br />$5,300.00 <br /> <br />625.00 <br />700.00 <br />$6,625.00 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />It was stated by the City Manager that by obtaining the above equip- <br />ment, how beneficial it would be to cut down on accounts receivable. On <br />motion made by Alderman Beecroft and seconded by Alderman Hillburn it was <br />unanimously decided by the Council to grant permission to proceed with ad- <br />vertising for bids on this equipment. <br />
