Alderman Hillburn made the motion to accept these appointments, as per the recommendation, which was seconded by Alderman Steakley and received a unanimous vote for this acceptance by the Counci 1. Mr. Sam R. Lyle, Wimberly, Texas, has filed preliminary plans for. the development of a small sub-division on F.M. Highway 12, the old M. B. Wilson place. Development of this sub-division was tentatively approved pending submission of the final plans of the area in compliance with the Sub-division Ordinance, Article III, Section C2, pertaining to lot area provided that residential lots not served by public sewerage system, would have to be complied with. It was decided to table the request by residents of Loop Street I that the City Council consider providing a sewer line to serve that area until a complete report concerning this area could be furnished the Council. The State Department of Health, Division of Water Pollution Control and the U. S. Public Health Service Regional Construction Program Iiliirector, have notified the City that the project for the construction of a Lift Station and Force Main have been approved and the City may proceed with advertising the project and calling for bids. In lieu of a conclusive re- port on the infiltration and other items with respect to the present sewage system, it was decided by the Council to delay further action for considera- tion at the January meeting. It was brought to the attention of the Council that two of the sewer plant operators are getting $12.50 per month less in salaries than men who are performing comparable work at the water pumping Station and it was stated by the City Manager that he felt that men satisfactorily accomplishing the same jobs should be compensated equally. It was, therefore, unanimously de- cided by the Council to increase the wages of Mr. Henry Schaefer and Mr. Ottis Taylor in the amount of $12.50 per month. Upon motion made by Alderman Steakley and seconded by Alderman Davis, it was unanimously'agreed to increase Mr. Carl Wilson's salary from $375.00 per month to $400.00 per month. It was also unanimously agreed that the City Manager be given the authority to make salary adjustments in the future, and be deferred until the prepara- tion of the budget for the next fiscal year. At a regular meeting of the Council on January 9th, of this year, the following action was taken by the Council: I "The subject then being called to the Council's attention, it waS decided that due to so many apartment vacancies, that after an apartment has been vacant for sixty (60) days, the City will remove the 50~ garbage charge until such apartment has been rented". It was recommended by the City Manager that property owners request- ing credit for vacancies, be requested to file a notarized affidavit setting forth the time the apartment has been vacant and the amount of refund re- quested, to be effective on January 1, 1958, for the January billing, and all apartment owners to be notified in advance. If they come to the office to pay, the affidavits can be prepared and acknowledged and if paying by mail, the notarized affidavits, for the credits requested, must accompany the payment. This recommendation received a unanimous decision by the Council. A report of preliminary estimates for the Utility billing and tax posting equipment was given as follows: Automatic Machine Water Account Ledger Sheets with Indexes and trays Tax Billing receipts and files $5,300.00 625.00 700.00 $6,625.00 I It was stated by the City Manager that by obtaining the above equip- ment, how beneficial it would be to cut down on accounts receivable. On motion made by Alderman Beecroft and seconded by Alderman Hillburn it was unanimously decided by the Council to grant permission to proceed with ad- vertising for bids on this equipment.
