I. We are not here to complain, nor to ask any personal favor, nor
to crIticize, nor to argue, nor to engage in politics. We know
you men have a big, thankless job to do and that you are doing
th,.,t job to the bent or your ability. \;e have no ill feeling
topard any person.

We need help from you.

t

II. We are seeK1ng information: You have stated in your memorandum
regarding an increase in water rates that

"the city council finds it necessary to increase the
water rates to overcome the increasing cos~ of
providing this servicell.

May we ask: Is this increased cost peculiar to water users
outside the city limits? Or, is this a general increase of cost
for the entire water system?

lII.

The increased cost for water used outside the city limits could
only be in the pumping and maintenance costs in ~~ proportions
L~ !P~ city ~ !!..~ th". !'..~ putside the city because the city
has NO MAINTENANCE NOR INVESTMENT IN }1AINS OUTSIDE OF THE CITY
which cause additional costs. Therefore, an increase in costs
would be equal, proportionately, for each household or other
connection.

,

If the costs have been distributed equally anlong all users, then
the assessment is fair. If, however, the added expense is placed
Wholly upon users outside the city limits, then we would ask you,
gentlemen, IS 2J:!!E. Kill;

What do other nearby communities charge for their water services?

Kyle water system charges:

1st 3000 gallons
Next 3000 gallons @
Next 3000 gallons @
All after that @

$2.00
.25 per m.
.20 per m.
.15 per m.

Those outside the city limits at Kyle pay a penalty of $.50 on the
minimum 1i the city furnishes the pipe. There is no extra charge, if
the custom~ pays for all the pipe, excepting 100 feet which,
incidentally, are furnished by the city.

.
