November 7, 1944~ by the addition of Section 51-f, ATticl.e I!I, \fjhich authorized the Legislature to establish a state~v,fide retirement and disabili ty pension system fOT city employees; 'NHEHEAS, Chapter 75, Acts 50th Leg~,-slature (1947) as amended, established The Iexas iVunici:)al Heti:rcment Systemt 2nd autno!'izes the' governing body of each city 01' town to elect, at its option, to have one 01' morQ or the city departments pa.rticipate in such systfJm; and dH2~.lEA3, the governing body of the City of 02n i/!arcos, Texas, finds that it will be in the public i.nterest for the city to have its employees participate in The Texas Municioal Retirement System as herein- after provided; Now, therefore, BE IT OHDAINED BY THE GOVEHNING BODY OF THE CITY OF SAN MAHCOS, TE~AS ; Section 1. Part-time employees (less tJ1an 1,000 hours per year) ~ (iligible to participate in 'The Texas ~/ur.icipal Retirement System as )yo- vided in Chaptel' TJ, i\.cts of the 50th Legislature, as amendc~d, (Article 6243h of Vernon's Civil statutes of Texas); and all of the benefi,.ts and obligations of such system are 11ereby accepted as to such eligible em- ployees. Section 2. Jne City Manager is hereby directed to notify the Board of Trustees of The Texas tLunicipal Hetirem0nt :.3ystem that the City of San Ivia:cco5, Texas, has elected to participate and have the eligible employees of all departments participate in said System. Section 3. Each person who becomes an eligible employee of any participating department on or after the effective date of participa- tion of such department shall become a member of The Texas ~.,'Iunic:ipal Hetirement 3ystem as a condition of his employment. The City of San ;\f;arcos, Texas, ma.y in t.he future refuse to add new departrfJents or ne'N employees to such system, but shall neveI' discontinue as to any participants. I Section 4.
