I . <br />~''- " . - ~ <br />..' ,,' ~ ~ ... <br /> <br />THIS CONTRACT is entered into this 12th day of <br /> <br />May <br /> <br />, 19~8, <br /> <br />by and between THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, a municipal corporation in the County <br /> <br />of Hays, State of Texas, and hereinafter called the CITY, acting herein by <br /> <br />I <br />and through its Mayor, C. M. Allen, and FREESE, NICHOLS & TURNER, Concult- <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />ing Engineers, a pertnership, of the County of Harris, State of Texas, with <br /> <br />9ffices at Houston, Texas, and hereinafter called the ENGINEERS, acting herein <br /> <br />hy and through N. P. Turner, a partner thereof. <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />The City hereby agrees to employ the Engineers, and the Engineers <br /> <br />agree to perform all professional services hereinafter mentioned. <br /> <br />. 2. <br /> <br />The employment and services here contemplated are in connection <br /> <br />with improvements to the sewage treatment plant of the City, located at <br /> <br /> <br />San Marcos, in Hays County, Texas, at which place the work is to be performed. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />The aggregate amount of money to be speDt by the City in the <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />accompolishment of this project over the next two years will approximate, <br /> <br />and will not exceed, the sum of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00), <br /> <br />and Engineers shall So prepare the plans and specifications herein mentioned <br /> <br />that the work here contemplated can be done at a cost to the City of not <br /> <br />exceeding One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00). In performing their <br /> <br />work hereunder, Engineers shall give sufficient weight to factors of future <br /> <br />growth and bcreased needs of City. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />The services which the Engineers agree to perform are as follows: <br /> <br />A. PRELIMINARY PHASE <br /> <br />(1) To study all available records, reports and other data <br /> <br />supplied by City and to make such additional field studies <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />as are required to obtain basic information as to the load on <br /> <br />the existing sewage treatment plant and the probable rate at <br /> <br />which the growth in loading on the plant will increase within <br /> <br />the ensueing ten years. Such studies shall include the growth <br /> <br />tendency of the City, including area development within and <br /> <br />immediaely without the City, and will be carried out to the <br /> <br />extent necessary to determine the probable rate and nature <br /> <br />of sewage loading on the plant, having in mind the future <br />
