It was fUrther set out in the letter that It would be prefer.' <br />able to delay the matter until fall and make another count, however, it <br />would appear, so far as the Highway Department is concerned, the matter' <br />is closed. <br /> <br />o <br />o <br />'" , <br />"'- <br />!;) <br />('.':"", <br /> <br />Ci ty Manager Fuller stated it would be necessary for the City to <br />borrow some money again th's year for General Fund Expenses and recommended <br />the City Attorney be requested to prepare an ordinance covering the issuance <br />of current expense warrants. Mayor Allen stated he anticipated being absent <br />from the City for approximately six (6) weeks and suggest~d preparation of an I <br />ordinance prior to his departure, warrants to be issued as needed. Alderman <br />Korff made the motion to issue warrants - Current Expense Warrants, Series <br />1958, in an amount not to exceed $25,000.00. This was seconded by Alderman <br />Beeoroft and received the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />Aldermen Beecroft <br />Davis <br />Hillburn <br />Korff <br />Steakley <br /> <br />Nayes: None <br /> <br />Whereupon the Mayor pronounced the motion passed and approved and directed <br />the City Manager to net i fy the City Attorney to proceed with the preparation <br />of the warrants for issue. <br /> <br />Mr. G. G. Parks obtained a Building Permit, in the amount of $5.00, <br />on May 1, 1958, to erect a building on his property. Mr. Parks now indicates <br />that he does not contemplate proceeding with the construction and has requested <br />a refund on this permit fee. The City Manager stated that the request seems to <br />be in order and recommended approval of the refund. Motion was made by <br />Alderman Hillburn and seconded by Alderman Steakley to refund Mr. Parks in the <br />amount of $5.00, which was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />The Refree in Bankruptcy, in the estate of Max Mendlovitz, forwarded <br />a check, in the amount of $509.99, to the Tax Assessor-Collector in payment of <br />taxes on: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Part Df Block 13, Lindsey & Harvey Addn. <br />(Apt. house at 319 North St.) <br /> <br />Taxes <br />Penalty & Interest <br /> <br />Personal Property <br />Taxes <br />Penal ty <br />T ota 1 : <br /> <br />$241. 50 <br />24.83 <br /> <br />$236.55 <br />49.86 <br />$552.74 <br /> <br />Recommendation was made by City Manager Fuller that payment be accepted and <br />mark the taxes paid in full, charglng off the difference of $42.75. Alderman <br />Hillburn made the motion to accept the check, in the amount of $509.99, as <br />payment in full and charge off the $42.75 to bad debts, which was seconded <br />by Alderman Davis, and received the unanimous vote of the Council. <br /> <br />It was called to the attention of the Council that a letter had been <br />received from the San Marcos Cemetery Organizat'on, stating, "the Board of <br />Directors of the San Marcos Cemetery Organizati"on voted to request the San <br />Marcos City Council to close the thoroughfare through the Cemetery by <br />connecting the fences on the west and on the south sides of the Cemetery <br />property. In other words, we think it would be wise to have the Cemetery I <br />completely closed, as it was never intended for racing, picnics--nor for a <br />thoroughfare".. It was the unanimous feeling of the Council that the fences <br />be erected as requested and the Cemetery Organization 'nformed accordingly. <br /> <br />Ci ty Manager Fuller stated that the accident incident rate at <br />Pleasant Street and Olmos Drive would indicate that a STOP sign is required <br />on PLEASANT STREET where it intersects with Olmos Drive, and recommended that <br />the Council approve this installation, which was unanimously approved by the <br />Council. <br /> <br />Whyte's Typewriter Service had requested that they be granted a <br />"Parking Permit" on the service truck which they use to deli ver and service <br />office machines. In many instances a service call requires over an hour to <br />complete the work, during which time the meter has expired. Their business <br />is located at 509 Moore Street. They have no meter in front of the ir bus i ness <br />to give them a permit en, thereby requiring a park "anywhere" perm't. It was <br />
