In view of the increased value of the vehicle, Alderman <br />Korff made a motion, which was seconded by Alderman Steakley, that the bid <br />of the Scrutchin Motor Company, in the amount of $1,860.00, be accepted pro- <br />vided they could make immediate delivery of the substituted vehicle. This motion <br />was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />o <br />c <br />c:..... <br />C') <br />,.... <br />~'''.~'<l <br /> <br />The City Manager advised the Council that the Hays County Gravel <br />Company in conjunction with Mr. G. C. McBride, Brownwood, Texas, had located <br />a "hot-mix" plant out at the Hays County Gravel Company plant on the Blanco <br />River and that it appeared the installation would be a permanent one. The City <br />Manager recommended that the Council consider the purchase of a used lay-down <br />machine to be used in street resurfacing utilizing the materials which could I <br />be furnished locally rather than purchasing cold-lay materials from New Braunfels. <br />The Council instructed the City Manager to work out cost figures and to report <br />at the meeting of the Council on July 22nd. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported on the annual audit for 1957-58, which had <br />been delivered by the firm of John L. Surber & Company, San Antonio. <br /> <br />It was reported to the City Council that a house had been erroneously <br />reported as being on Part Lot 14, Block 2, Dan McKie Addition and had been placed <br />on the tax roll while the house had, in fact, been removed in 1944. On motion <br />Alderman Steakley, seconded by Alderman Hillburn, and unanimously approved, the <br />tax assessor-collector was authorized to allow a credit in the amount of $38.40, <br />the amount of the taxes on the improvements, which had been assessed in error. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that he had been advised that two houses were <br />placed on the 1957 tax rolls when the houses had not been completed until later <br />in the year and were not subject to taxation as of January 1st. These houses <br />were: <br /> <br />Soledad Rodriguez, Lot 2, Block 1, J. P. Ellis Addition #1, valued <br />at $2,000.00 when it should have been $250.00. This amount has <br />been paid and the taxpayer is entitled to a refund of $36.75. <br /> <br />Eugene young, Jr., Lt. 11, John Cox Addition, charged $1,500.00 <br />when it should have been $250.00, which has not been paid but <br />the tax-payer is entitled to a credit of $26.75. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Upon motion of Alderman Hillburn, seconded by Alderman Steakley, and unani- <br />mously carried, the tax assessor-collector was authorized to allow the credits <br />or make proper refunds as listed above. <br /> <br />There being no further business, the Council, on motion, adjourned <br />to reconvene at 3:30 P.M. on July 22nd. <br /> <br />// <br /> <br /> <br />Alderman H.
