Pierce who. has worked with them <br />and trained thew. Mayar Allen suggested appraval af a farmal apening and, <br />in recagnitian af the full ca-aperatian received, he and the Cauncil attend. <br />Alderman Hillburn requested that, as the land belangs to. the Schaal Baard, <br />it wauld be praper to. cantact them to. abtain their appraval innaming the <br />field and to. request them to. attend the apening. The Mayar instructed the <br />City Manager to. cantact the Schaal Baard far their appraval af the naming af <br />the field and to. extend and invite them to. attend. <br /> <br />!-l <br />Z <br />() <br />~\~ <br />""". <br />'=I <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller infarmed the Cauncil that Mrs. Edra Penning tan <br />had requested permissian to. use a twenty faat (20') strip alang the west line <br />(Next to. the Baptist Church parking area) af the Library Lat as an exit-way <br />far emergency vehicles fram her funeral hame. Mrs. Penningtan stated that the <br />alley beside her building into. Camanche Street is a blind intersectian. The <br />City Manager recammended against a permanent alley as it wauld effect the sale <br />ar use af the land, and it appeared mare feasible to. execute a lease an a <br />shart-term basis. Motian was made by Alderman Hillburn to. execute a lease <br />between the City af San Marcas and Mrs. Edra Penningtan far a 20' strip alang <br />the west line af the Library Lat far the sum af $1.00 per year, to. be renewed <br />annually, with an immediate cancellatian clause, the strip to. be maintained <br />by Mrs. Penningtan. This matian was secanded by Alderman Beecraft. Upan raIl <br />call, the Ayes and Nayes were as fallaws: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYES: Aldermen S. ? Beecraft <br />,W. M. Davis <br />B. D. Hillburn <br />Herman Karff <br /> <br />NAYES: Nane <br /> <br />Whereupan the Mayar declared the matian passed and instructed the City Manager <br />to. cantact the City Attarney to. execute a lease. <br /> <br />The City Manager stated that a request had been received to. install I <br />a street light at Wilsan and Faris. This is nat near a street light circuit <br />and will have to. wait until lighting is available in that area. <br /> <br />The City Manager reparted that the peaple an Durango., Juarez, <br />Manterrey, Saltilla, Laredo. and Tempica Streets had requested the installatian <br />af a sewer line in that area. The residents are willing to. sign up far service <br />to. get the util-ity installed. The City Manager autlined the area in questian <br />an the map and stated that althaugh this wauld be an expensive praject, it was <br />badly needed. Mayar Allen requested the City Manager to. praceed with a survey <br />to. determine an estimated cast, and the number af cannectians. Repart to be <br />submitted to. the Council at a later date, which met with the appraval af the <br />Cauncil. <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller stated that the cantract between Mr. Paul Ragers <br />and the City had been signed by Mr. Ragers (capy attached). A matian was made <br />by Alderman Karff and secanded by Alderman Hillburn that the cantract with <br />Mr. Ragers be appraved. Hillburn <br />Herman Karff <br /> <br />NAYES: Nane <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A bill fram Freese, Nichals and Turner far professianal services <br />in cannectian with preparatian of Preliminary Study and Repart, in the amount <br />of $1,500.00 was presented to. the Council. The City Manager reminded the <br />Council that this amount ($1,500.00) would be credited, in full, an the final <br />payment for engineering services. Upon matian made by Alderman Korff, secanded <br />by Alderman Davis, freese, Nichals and Turner charges far the preliminary <br />study and report on the Sewer Plant, was the unanimaus appraval af the Cauncil. <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller reported the pragress being made an the submissian <br />af revised plans, etc., an alteratians to. the sewage treatment plant, lift <br />statian and changes required. He recommended that the Cauncil apprave acquiring <br />the right-af-way necessary far the farce main acrass the land at the end af <br />Linda Drive. Mayar Allen stated that several af the Council members had can~ <br />tacted the variaus praperty awners in an attempt to. abtain this right-af-way. <br /> <br />j <br />
