Mayor Allen authorized the City Manager
to write to all the property owners requesting the donation of 50' right-of-way
to erect a street from the end of Linda Drive to State Highway 80. This received
the unanimous vote of the Council.

The City Manager and the Council discussed the use of unexpended funds
in the Highway Right-of-Way bond account improvements connected with the moving
of the force main off the highway right-of-way, and related work. The City
Manager requested permission to consult with the City Attorney and/or other
legal counsel to determine whether or not the improvements contemplated fall
within the scope of the original project. permission was unanimously granted.

City Manager Fuller reported that the fencing around the old Highway
Department Warehouse had been retained by the state Highway Department, making
it necessary to obtain fencing for the area at the new Public Works Shop and the
Fredericksburg Street site. Mayor Allen requested that the City Manager obtain
prices for this fencing, to be presented to the Council at the next meeting.

The City Manager informed the Council that the State Highway Department
requested the City execute a deed dedicating the right-of-way along Interstate
Highway 35, which was purchased by the City. After some discussion, Alderman
Hillburn made the motion that the proper deed be executed dedicating the Citys'
right-of-way along Interstate Highway 35 to the State with the clause that
should it ever cease to be used as a highway, that same will revert to the City
of San Marcos. This motion was seconded by Alderman Beecroft and upon roll call
the Ayes and Nayes were as followSI

AYES I Aldermen S. R. Beecroft
W. M. Davis
B. D. Hillburn
Herman Korff

NAVES: None

Whereupon the Mayor instructed the City Manager to have the City Attorney draw
the proper deed for execution.

City Manager Fuller reported the Magnolia Petroleum Company had re-
quested the City extend the sewer line to a location on Loop 82 where they
intend to construct a new warehouse. The extension would require 270' of 6"
sewer pipe and one (1) manhole, the Mignolia Petroleum Corporation to bear
one-half of the expense of the extension. The City Manager stated that this
line would enable the City to pick up several houses. It was the unanimous
decision of the Council to approve the request of the Magnolia Petroleum Co.

The Mayor and City Manager reported on a conference with L.C.R.A.
officials regarding street lighting rehibilitation. As a result of this
conference several new street lights are to be erected. New mercury vapor
lighting to be carried two (2) blocks off the square to Comanche Street on
Comal, San Antonio, Hopkins and Hutchison. Also the present lighting on Hopkins
Street will be completely modernized. This will require two new lights on
Hopkins. A plan was also recommended that would enable L.C.R.A. to establish
a meter on one light as a basis of billing for other unmetered lights. The
report was unanimously approved by the Council.

The following items were presented by the City Manager for the Councils'
information:

1. The City has provided additional lighted parking space
for Evans Field by graveling an area in front of the
Little League Fields at the City Park. This area will
be used for the Park during the summer.

2. It is strongly recommended that the City Council take
necessary action to assist in passage of this Amendment
#5 to the Constitution and to follow it up, that the
persons elected to city council in April, 1959, will be
eligible for a four (4) year term.

3. Mayor Allen received a letter concerning the San Marcos
Water Plant advising that the State Health Department
recognizes the city as being served by a Class A system
or State Approved water facility.

~(;t.
