Adderson, North Guadalupe Street, Lot 10 Parke Addition. <br /> <br />Mrs. Anderson owes 1953, 1956, 1957 and 1958 delinquent taxes in <br />the amount of $221.40 plus penalty and interest of $39.80, for an amount <br />of $261.20. Her children have indicated that they will pay the taxes IF <br />the penalty and interest is waived. They were informed that the Council's <br />policy did not permit this type of settlement. <br /> <br />It was the unanimous feeling of the Council that an exception could not <br />be made to established policy. <br /> <br />3. Mr. Jack Hughes protests the payment of the tax levied on the auto' <br />he had registered as these were out-of-state automobiles and require a <br />new title before he cowld dispose of them. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />After some discussion it was the unanimous decision of the Council to <br />obtain from Mr. Hughes a notarized affadavit that he did not have these cars <br />in his possession on January 1, 1958, the date of aSsessment of personal <br />properties. <br /> <br />The City Manager stated that the Engineering Extension Service of Texas <br />A & M, in conjunction with the State Health Department, had indicated a willing- <br />ness to hold a water and sewa~e works operators area school in San Marcos. The <br />cost to the City would be $7.00 per man for each course, with the City having <br />twelve (12) men eligible for the water works course and nine (9) men eligible <br />for the sewage works course. The City Manager stated that this is a good way. <br />to keep trained men available in the event of needed replacememts. Motion was <br />made by Alderman Steakley, seconded by Alderman Hillburn, to submit a request <br />to the State Health Department and Texas A & M Engineering Extension Service to <br />complete plans for holding this type of school in San Marcos, and grant permis- <br />sionb for all local eligible men to attend, which was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />The City Manager re~uested that the Council appoint Mrs. Jeann Hayes as <br />Deputy City Secretary that she may have authority to attend meetings, take <br />notes and keep the records of the Council, Mrs. Carlyn Tatch to remain as <br />ctty Secretary. Motion was made by Alderman Beecroft, seconded by Alderman Davis <br />to appoint Mrs. Joann Hayes as Deputy City Secretary. Upon roll call the ayes <br />and nayes were: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Ayesl Aldermen Beecroft <br />Davis <br />Hi 11 burn <br />Steakley <br /> <br />Nayes: None <br /> <br />Upon recei~ the unanimous vote of the Council, the Mayor pronounced the <br />appointment of Mrs, Hayes as Deputy City Secretary. <br /> <br />The following items were submitted to the Council for their information: <br /> <br />1. Final settlement was made with Miss Florence Kone on January 16 <br />by the delivery of the City's check for $60.00. Miss Kone signed a <br />release prepared by the City Attorney. The matter is now closed. <br /> <br />2. A letter agreement has been entered into witb Mr. Bert Beecroft for <br />the sale of aviation gasoline at the City Municipal Airport. The City <br />will receive l~ per gallon for all gas sold. <br /> <br />3. The City Attorney and the legal counsel for Graham & Sons are working I <br />on the final draft of the lease-agreement for the improvements to the San <br />Marcos Airport. It should be ready to submit to 4th Army very soon. <br /> <br />4. The City has received two (2) petitions for street improvements <br /> <br />a. The laO-block of Fredericksburg Street; <br />The street repairs will be done during January or early February. <br />b. Lucio street: <br />The improvement of this street has already been begun. It will <br />receive suffic~ent gravel to reshape it and then bladed and <br />asphalt emulsion applied. <br /> <br />~ <br />
