<br />City Manager Fuller reported that the City has been offered, <br />subject to prior sale, repurchased of the City of San Marcos Refunding <br />Bonds, 3~, dated July 1, 1953, maturing July 1, 1970 and ~ity of <br />San Marcos Water Works and Sewer Improvement and Extension Revenue <br />Bonds, Series A, 1951. The Council authorized Mayor Allen to re- <br />purchase at 5% or better if he considered the investment worthwhile. <br /> <br />3,1 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller reported that the Delinquent Tax Attorney <br />and the City Attorney recommended that the Council remit the delinquent <br />taxes owed on Lot 21, Blk. 9, Rio Vista owned by the Campus Christian <br />Community and used as a residence for its minister. The taxes were <br />for the years 1957 and 1958 amounted to $93.77. Alderman Beecroft <br />moved that the taxes be remitted. The motion was seconded by Alderman <br />Hillburn and passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Alderman Beecroft introduced an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE <br />PROVIDING FOR PARTICIPATATION IN THE SUPPLEMENTAL BENEFITS FUND OF THE <br />TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM BY ALL DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY <br />GOVERNMENT WHICH NON PARTICIPATE IN THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT <br />SYSTEM1 AND PROVIDING FOR PAYMENT OF THE CITY'S CONTRIBUTIONS ON <br />ACCOUNT OF SUCH PARTICIPATION. The ordinance will permit San Marcos <br />to participate in the amendment of the Texas Municipal Retirement <br />Act which provides for a Supplemental Benefit Fund covering service <br />connected disabilities. The City's rate of contribution cannot <br />exceed ~ of the earnings of the participating employees. It is <br />to become effective on January 1, 1960. Alderman Tuttle seconded <br />the motion. Upon roll call the ayes and nayes were as follows. <br /> <br />Ayes: Beecroft <br />Davis <br />Hillburn <br />Tuttle <br /> <br />Nayes: None <br /> <br />Whereupon the Mayor declared the ordinance passed, approved, and adopted. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller presented the following excerpts from a <br />letter from the Wally Byam Caravanners.
