REGULAR MEETING HEW ON JUNE 14. 1960 On the 14th day of June, 1960, at 2:00 o'clock P.M. the Govern- ing Body of the City of San Marcos met in regular session in the City Hall, Mayor Pro-tem James Tuttle presiding. Hillburn City Secretary Judy Brackett Visitors: Mrs. Roland Manske, AAUW Mr. Tom Buckner, l:ian Marcos Record Mrs. Laura Holleran, B & P W Mrs. Vic Edwards, B & P W Mr. Paul Rogers In the absence of the Mayor, the Mayor Pro-tem James Tuttle presided and asked the City Manager, in the absence of the City Secretary, to keep a record of the business conducted by the Council. The minutes of the previous meetings of May lOth and May 31st were approved as recorded. I The first item on the agenda was dispensed with as Mr. R. C. Wil- son was not present. The Mayot Pro-tem called on Mr. Ames, spokesman for the Ames Air Activities. Mr. .Ames reported that he had leased the Bert Beecroft pro- perty at the San Marcos Municipal Airport and intended to make extensive improvements there including a coffee shop, a modern motel as well as other improvements. He explained that he was crowded for room and wanted to exchange lots with the City. Mr. Ames has Lots 1 &.2, which join the City's property at the junction of the runways, under option to purchase and he would like to exchange these lots for Lots 10 & 11 which are presently owned by the City. The matter was discussed as to the benefit lots 1 & 2 might be to the City. In the absence of the Mayor and one alderman, it was decided the matter be deferred as to final action until a full council could consider the matter. I j~r5. Holleran and Mrs. Edwards asked the Council what action, if any, had been taken by the City in providing an access road to the rear of the Memorial Hospital. The City Manager was requested to give a brief resume of the action which had been taken by the Council and the County Commissioners Court as to right-of-way. The City Manager explained the various routes which had been considered by the Council and the one through the Zunker property which had been offered by the Com~issioners Court. .Mmes. Holleran and Edwards agreed that. the route selected by the County Court was not desirable because of the numerous curves and agreed with the Council that the route across tile Cullen Crews property probably was the most logical. A request for a parking permit by Mr. Michalec, Farmers Insurance Group, was approved as Mr. Michalec does not have a rear entrance to his office and is required to park on the street in a meter zone. The City Manager reported that a complete plat of the San Marcos Cemetery WaS not on file in the County Clerk's office. The Council approved submitting a complete plat as soon as practicable.
