Alderman Hillburn moved that an ordinance be drafted. Alderman Davis seconded, motion carried. It was reported that the Wally Byam Caravan plans to spend the Thanksgiving holiday in San Marcos. They will arrive about the 23rd of November and leave on Sunday, the 27th. I The re-appointment of Dr. Moore as City Health Officer was unanimously approved by the Council. The appointment is for the term September 11, 1960 through September 10, 1961. The City Manager presented a report showing the square yards of paving which had been done in San Marcos during the past two years from General Fund monies. It was noted that there was 29,512 square yards in 1959 and 39,161 square yards in 1960, or a total of over 46 blocks. The matter of parking and metered parking adjacent to the new Federal building was discussed. Alderman Hillburn made a motion that the Parking Meter Ordinance be amended to provide forI a. One-hour metered parallel parking on both sides of West Hutchison Street from Guadalupe westward to Post Office Alley. b. Twelve-minute metered, 300 angle parking on the west side of Guadalupe Street northward from West Hutchison to the entrance into the Federal building parking area. c. One-hour metered, parallel parking on both sides of Guadalupe Street from West Hutchison to West Hopkins streets. I The motion was seconded by Alderman Tuttle and carried unanimously. The City Manager was directed to have the amendment drawn to the parking Meter Ordinance. Alderman Tuttle moved that "Stop Signs" be erected at the following intersections I Comanche at Lindsey (stop on Lindsey) Fredericksburg at Pat Garrison (stop on Pat Garrison and private street) Union at Hutchison (stop on Union) Edward Gary at San Antonio (stop on San Antonio) Prospect at Bishop (stop on Prospect) Jackman at Comal (stop on Jackman) Alderman Hillburn seconded, motion carried. The City Manager reported to the Council the receipt of: a. The Annual Inventory of Traffic Activities for 1959 b. The Annual Audit of the City's financial affairs from John L. Surber 8. Company I It was reported that the matter of a street light in the rear of the property on Comanche Street owned by Miss Ethel Davis had been satisfactorily settled. The pole is not on City property and the LCRA has advised that the City may not erect a street light on the pole. Mayor Allen presented Mrs. Roland Manske with a certificate of appointment as United Nations Day Chairman.
