The City Manager recommended that <br />each block for about two or three on each side of the Centennial grounds <br />be lighted to prevent any disturbances from occurring. Alderman Hill- <br />burn moved that the request and recommendation be approved and to include <br />an installation at 211 Luck Street at the request of Willie Mae Beard. <br /> <br />The attendance of the City Manager and Fire Marshall at a <br />Civil Defense Conference in Austin on October 25 and 26th was approved <br />by the City Council. <br /> <br />Several times in the past it has been determined that the <br />Assessor-Collector has, through error, omitted property from the tax <br />roll. City Manager Fuller recommended the Council adopt a set policy <br />for placing the omitted property on the roll; the method employs making <br />a supplemental roll in accordance with statutory procedure. Alderman <br />Beecroft moved that the City Manager's recommendation be adopted, <br />seconded by Alderman Hillburn"atid carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Some of the Council members discussed specific tax problems <br />which may need adjustments. The City Manager asked for an established <br />policy and procedure for handling such cases. After a lengthy..dis- <br />cussion, Mayor Allen requested additional information be available at <br />the next regular meeting. This information to include adjacent property <br />assessments on the specific cases discussed and assessments on roll at <br />other taxing units. <br /> <br />Mr. H. A. Nelson has expressed interest in improving drainage <br />on Olmos Drive at Wood Street and Peques Street is not large enough. <br />He has offered to pay t the cost if the pipe is replaced. It was the <br />unanimous decision of the Council to accept Mr. Nelson's offer and <br />replace the pipe when improvements are made to Olmos Drive. <br /> <br />The preliminary plat of the Holt-Horton Subdivision, Greendale <br />No.3, was presented to the Council for their consideration. The City <br />Manager noted a list of omissions from the plat to make it conform to <br />the Subdivision Ordinance. The Council noted the ,.omissions and <br />directed that the plat conform to the Ordinance at which time it will <br />be conSidered by the Council. <br /> <br />The College has asked that the City respect a reserved <br />parking space for Dr. Taylor who is unable to walk a long distance. <br />The Council authorized the City Manager to reserve the space as requested. <br /> <br />The family of J. E. Booth has asked if the City is interested <br />in repurchasing 7 unused spaces in the San Marcos Cemetery. Alderman <br />Korff moved that the City buy these lots at a cost equivalent to the <br />original purchase price. Alderman Tuttle seconded, motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Nelson's request that "No Parking" signs be erected on the <br />east side of the alley next to his property--0riginal Town, Block 23, <br />Lots 1 & 2--was approved by the Council. <br /> <br />The City Manager advised the Council that Mr. Oliver was <br />retired from the Fire Department on September 15th. He was assigned <br />to the Inspection Department to assist in work in that Department. He <br />will be covered by Social Security and will be able to retire in <br />October 1961. The Council unanimously approved. <br /> <br />The Council approved a 6" water line extension on Brown <br />street west from Clara Street at an estimated cost of $2,500.00. <br />
